DJ Chachi Rocks the Crowd, Brings Presents, and Makes Girls go Wild
Ultrabar resident and New York City Native DJ Chachi goes on camera to tell all about his adventures and experience deejaying around the world. From NYC to DC, Spain, LA, and just about everywhere in between Chachi has been there and done that. From private parties to Britney Spears’ birthday to mega pool parties he can be found there as well.
One of the great things about Chachi is that he usually comes bearing gifts. In the video you can see his shorts, shirts, beach balls, and more. But free gifts can’t buy everyone. When DJ Chachi gets into the booth you know it’s going to be one of those crazy nights. Girls flying everywhere, house music colliding with hard-hitting rock, and all the mashups you know him for always lead to an experience you won’t forget (unless you party a little too hard and don’t remember it to begin with).
Check out his newest mixes below and make sure to catch him next time he’s in DC.
What’s Your Number?
You’ve been in a relationship with your boyfriend/girlfriend and the questions ultimately, eventually arises- how many people have you slept with?
Now what? You can lie, which most people probably do. Or you could fly that sexual freedom flag high and spill the truth, minus the gory details of course.
Though hearing your partners number probably makes most a little uneasy, it’s hard to deny that it will be on your mind at some point in the relationship. The same goes for friends asking friends “What your number?” Try as they might to not judge, most do and will. Too high a number – TROLLUP. Too low means you’re a PRUDE. But, who are we to judge others and what is the cut off number anyway?

In the new movie coming out September 30, “What’s Your Number?” Starring Anna Faris of House Bunny, Just Friends, and Scream fame, poses this age-old question. The film, based on Karyn Bosnak’s book 20 Times a Lady, follows a Ally (Anna Faris) who after reading a magazine article states “In America 97% of women who have had 20 or more lovers can’t find a husband”. This inevitably leads the character (who of course is at number 19) to believe she’s going to be forever alone. Thus beginning a wild search for the best “ex” of her life.
When it comes to “real life” maybe it’s best to follow a “don’t ask, don’t tell” policy on this issue that invites so much judgment and unnecessary drama. Because when it comes to professing how many people you’ve slept with, it is the ultimate “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” confession.
Wanamaker Wet Party: 9/18/11 [The Yards Park]
The Wanamaker Wet Party is introducing a new concept in wet, music festival entertainment to the Nation’s Capital. September 18, 3000 guests 18 and over are expected to attend the electronic music festival held at The Yards Park. Headlining DJ’s are set to include Sultan and Ned Sheperd, Serge Devant, Tatiana Fontes, and various local DJs.
The first-ever event, kicking-off at noon will include access to the Yards fountain, water games, mist tents, a giant foam pit and ten straight hours of live DJ sets. The event is set to mimic famous pool parties like Rehab at the Hard Rock in Vegas, The Palms, and basically every Miami pool party.
The water-soaked day will also feature a swimsuit model competition with designer swimwear provided by east coast fashion retailer South Moon Under and judged by the festival’s Master of Ceremonies Bianca Chardei of America’s Next Top Model fame and South Moon Under.
For those who want to lounge in a private area, table service including lounge chairs, cocktail waitress, quick entrance, and your own exclusive area are available. Tickets for purchase here.
DJ Saam’s August Mix
Towards the end of every month DJ Saam releases a mixtape consisting of the hottest tracks around. Why are his mixes always named after the previous month? Well, that’s because, although he wishes, Saam doesn’t actually have a time machine. There’s no way to know the hottest tracks of September, for example, when September has just begun. Not to worry, staying on the cutting edge of music is the name of the game so most of the tracks are very new and will get even more playtime in the month to come.
This month brings you great new songs from Avicii, Steve Aoki, Flo Rida, Afrojack, David Guetta, Nicki Minaj, Usher, Coldplay, Dev, Kanye West, Jay-Z, Lil Jon, Maroon 5, Christina Aguilera, Lil Wayne, Drake, and many more.
Be sure to catch DJ Saam at Lima on Tuesday, Barcode on Friday, and Ultrabar on Saturday.
Tiësto Makes Billboard Cover: Brings Dance Music to the World

Named “The Greatest DJ of all Time” by Mixmag, Tiësto has more accomplishments than many small countries .. and some not-so-small ones. He’s played for a 250,000+ person event, traveled the world, received a Grammy nomination, won MTV awards, played for the Olympics, is cast in a wax statue, and so much more. His tour in 2010 was named among the top 25 grossing tours (of 2010) in the world; traveling over 6 continents, playing for over a million people, and holding 175 dates over 15 months is no joke.
Over the years, electronic dance music (EDM) has been intertwined with other musical genres and subcultures that, at least in the United States, don’t normally reach the mainstream surface. Tiësto, through brilliantly designed light shows and amazing performances, has helped revamp the thinking of millions over the years. In the process, he managed to captivate the world. EDM was no longer a genre reserved for few but has become a music for the masses. Cracking into mainstream America isn’t so easy but, with collaborations, a show to entertain the masses, and reinvention over time, Tiësto has accomplished just that for himself and for dance music the world over. On April 9, 2011 Washington, DC got to see the magic that is Tiësto firsthand when he played a 10,000 person concert at DC Armory for Club Glow.
It doesn’t get too much bigger than landing the cover of Billboard Magazine however, and Tiësto has done just that. Overshadowing names like Maroon 5, Aguilera, and more, Tiësto sits confidently on the cover of Billboard in a desolate environment with stone, sand, mountains, dead plants, records, and a his headphones. To the left of his name reads simply and accurately “The Only Arena DJ in the World.” With a serious face, a look of determination, and a faint smile it speaks that he has made it through continued hard work and determination. Music is universal in this world, and Tiësto has brought, directly or indirectly, dance music to the masses. This metamorphosis of the club music scene is so massive that it’s attracting big names to sponsor his new Club Life: Campus Invasion tour beginning September 15. Axe, Armani Exchange, Heineken, Sandisk, and Playstation ring any bells? They’re household names just like Tiësto. The tour will conclude with a record breaking 26,000 person show at the Home Depot Center in Carson, California: the biggest single-headliner DJ Concert in US history.

Venue Overview
Policy opened its doors in 2009 in the revived U Street Corridor area, proclaiming a renovation in D.C. nightlife; no velvet ropes, no expensive bottle service minimums to keep you and your guests from relaxing in one of their lounge areas. Hence the name Policy, the restaurant/lounge stays true to its open door policy as long as you arrive early enough to grab a seat upstairs in the lounge or come early to enjoy eclectic specialty cocktails at the main bar, sample from the unique menu, or enjoy the second floor outdoor patio.
The décor is sleek and stylish accented with art by street artist Andrew Funk and Drew Nussbaum. The ceiling is a gleaming black, which frames the first floors bright red vinyl booths, and glittering chandeliers, which give Policy a trendy, upscale diner, feel. The upstairs lounge and marble and glass bar is punctuated with art graffiti and has a cozy, relaxed vibe and outdoor patio.
With an extensive list of specialty cocktails like the Pearfect Martini an interesting blend of Grey Goose Pear, Orchard Pear Cordial, St. Germaine, and Champagne, to the Lychee-Lemongrass Mojito a mix of Bacardi, fresh citrus, lychee, mint, lemongrass-cane syrup, and soda water, and even a selection of Absinthe which the bartender presents in a slow drip Absinthe fountain in a grand display on the bar or at your table.
Policy chef Brian Murphy serves small, yet flavorful, plates which are meant to be shared like the grilled hanger steak with Shiitake mushrooms, green beans, and edamame puree, and the Madras Curry Lamb sliders with Gorgonzola, and mint pesto. There is also a vast selection of vegetarian dishes for those who prefer to avoid meat.
Fridays and Saturdays have live DJs spinning Old School, Hip Hop, Top 40s and Mash Ups starting around 10 PM.

DJ Chachi: Moodswing360 x Casio G-Shock Mini Mix
PoP! Nightlife at Ultrabar resident DJ Chachi joins the Moodswing360 and Casio G-Shock Mini Mix series. Chachi’s usual open format shines through with an electronic influence. Everyone is patiently awaiting his return to Ultrabar on September 23rd. Luckily, you don’t have to wait that long to rock out to his music. This mix is downloadable so everyone is free to have a little more Chachi in their lives.
What started over a decade ago at small private parties in Long Island is now a full-time job, as Chachi continues to establish himself as one of the country’s most formidable deejays. Utilizing a diverse, open-format approach to music, Chachi now holds court at some of the country’s most popular clubs, as well as providing the aural memories to countless celebrities’ birthdays (that was Chachi you heard if you were fortunate enough to get into Britney Spears’ bash at Tenjune). In a short period of time, DJ Chachi has become as famous as the celebrities that rock out to him. (bio cont. on djchachi.com)

Crossdressers and Baby Bumps: The MTV VMAs in a Crazy Nutshell
This year’s Video Music Awards careened chaotically through cross-dressing, pregnancy announcements, tear jerking moments (Amy Winehouse tribute), straight up crazy, and a wave to the days of yore (cheers, Foo Fighters).
Nobody really cares which artists won the moon men- let’s get to the crazy!!! For complete VMA winners click here!
- Beyonce rubs her baby bump to “officially” announce her pregnancy with Jay-Z! Is this the new stork in the front lawn?
- Gaga ditched the meat dress and incubator and instead settled for a fake set of balls and a beard channeling her inner male as Jo Calderone .. basically Jon Travolta as Danny Zuko in Grease.
- Nicki Minaj, perhaps trying to copy Gaga’s ridiculous costumes, failed and looked like she ate all the candy at Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory then got dressed courtesy of FAO Swartz and Toys R’ Us.
- Poor Katy Perry tried to fly her freak flag with pink hair and a giant yellow cube on her head which, compared to the others, just came off as looking like the only one with any marbles left in the insane asylum.
What ever happened to the good old days when rock n’ rollers did some good old-fashioned drugs, slashed some chords and destroyed the set?
MNF: Redskins vs. Cowboys 9/26/11 [BΛRCÖDE]
Monday Night Football
Redskins vs. Cowboys
BΛRCÖDE
Washington, DC 20036
(202) 955- 9001
21+
With a strong season start at 2-0, the Washington Redskins are ready to take on the Dallas Cowgirls Cowboys.
Fighting to maintain their #1 position in the NFC East, the Skins certainly have an important game ahead. Quarterback Tony Romo and the pass-happy Cowboys will put the Skins to the test, do they have what it takes to defeat their Texas nemesis this season?
The two teams last met on December 19th in 2010 with a minor victory of 33-30 by the Cowboys. The Redskins’ record in the rivalry is not good (60-38-2 since 1960 to be exact) but on Monday nights the record is even. There hasn’t been a Monday night battle between the rivals since 2005 when the Redskins prevailed with a 14-13 victory.
Barcöde will be showing the game of course. With 2 70″ projectors and 10 42″ HDTVs you won’t miss a second of any Monday Night Football action. Refreshments will include an extended happy hour until 2AM with half off all beer, wine, and rail drinks. If food is in your forecast $5 cheeseburgers and wings are available and the full menu is available every day until midnight. Reservations are available, call 202-955-9001 to carve out your spot for lunch, dinner, or bottle service.
