With over 110 remixes to his name—including tracks by Madonna (“Miles Away”), Katy Perry (“I Kissed A Girl”), Tegan & Sara (“Back In Your Head”), and La Roux (“Bulletproof”)—Morgan Page has earned a solid reputation for transferring insatiable pop energy to the dance floor in the form of banging, progressive house tracks. High ranking spots on iTunes’ dance chart, Beatport’s progressive chart, and Billboard’s club charts affirmed his salability, while an ’09 Grammy nomination for Deadmau5’s remix of Page’s “The Longest Road” simultaneously bolstered his underground cred while spotlighting his skills as a songwriter.
Page released his first official full-length album in 2008. Entitled Elevate, it featured remixes of music by The Submarines, Dengue Fever, Nelly Furtado, Delerium, and others, along with a small handful of Page’s originals. It was the perfect calling card for a producer well steeped in vocal re-rubs, but eager to imprint his own unique mark upon dance music.
Earlier this year, Page released Believe, a powerful, captivating album that makes good on his International Dance Music Awards nomination as Best Breakthrough Artist, and typifies his journey from bootleg remixer to award-winning producer and world renown DJ.
“Believe took a year and a half to make, but it was worth it!” says Page. “I went to great lengths to make songs I felt will last a long time, and to create an album you want to listen all the way through. It’s easily my best work so far.”
As a college student and mix show radio DJ in Burlington, Vermont, Page learned to navigate the space between pop music’s accessibility and the heady minimalism of progressive house early on. At the age of 18 he was nominated for Boston Music Award, and early in his career produced a remix of “Angels,” a track by seminal trip-hop band Wax Poetic, featuring the vocals of one Norah Jones. The dance community was quick to catch on, and his first instrumental tracks were signed to taste-making imprints like John Digweed’s Bedrock, Satoshi Tomiie’s Saw Recordings, and James Zabiela’s Hearing Aid. In 2003, he made the move to Los Angeles.
“I was juggling remixes with a day job, then brewing coffee at midnight,” says Page, “burning the candle at both ends and saving money so I could write music full-time.”
The landscape dramatically shifted for Page when he released a now infamous collection of bootleg remixes in 2005 entitled Cease And Desist. Without the help of master tapes (or label permission) he extracted a cappellas and signature melodies from tracks by David Bowie, Coldplay, Imogen Heap, Esthero, and The Kills with surgical precision, then rounded out the sound with luminous instrumentation and blazing beats. His undulating progressive feel and strict attention to kit detail—never the same kick drum twice, ever—was a perfect compliment to the larger than life vocal hooks. Dance music blogs like Resident Advisor and Beatportal took note, and Page’s own server continually crashed under the weight of the mix’s download traffic.
“It was like going to boot camp,” says Page of the arduous process behind creating Cease And Desist. “It was a great way of getting good at editing with limited resources, and it got out to so many people. You just didn’t know who was listening to it.”
Everyone from DJs and producers to managers, agents, and of course fans got their hands on the album, and its underground success helped pave the way for music future placements in television shows like Samantha Who? and Melrose Place, as well as cutting edge campaigns and in-stores for Bebe, Chanel, and Sephora. With his resume and repertoire quickly expanding, Page struck again with the release of Elevate, an album that KCRW DJ and electronic music pundit Jason Bentley described as “a breakthrough collection of original music and remixes” full of “subtle electronics and thoughtful songs.” Jo-Anne Greene from All Music Guide was even more forthright in her praise, referring to Page as “a man fast becoming a legend.”
Having long jettisoned his status as an up-and-comer, Page is ready to step into the next phase of his career, firmly joining the ranks of established “triple threat” DJs, producers, and remixers like Kaskade, Deadmau5, and Eric Prydz. It’s no surprise that the dance music scene is already buzzing about Believe.
“Fight For You” is the album’s first single, and is already being supported by world class DJs like Tiësto, Armin van Buuren, Above and Beyond, Dave Dresden, and Hernan Cattaneo. Bolstered with impassioned lyrics and swift, clean guitars, the track embodies Believe’s fragile yet faithful feel, pushing through wistful cinematic shades to the promise of something better up ahead.
“Believe is very dark, but I’m not a dark person at all,” Page explains. “I just lean towards these specific chords and melodies. Melancholy with a little bit of hope.”
The Pete Yorn cover “Strange Condition,” a simple, spatial arrangement that highlights Page’s ability let his vocalists control the direction of a song, and not be driven towards emotional peaks and valleys by just synths and bass. Page uses a similarly subtle approach on “Tell Me Why,” featuring the velveteen vocals of Télépopmusik’s Angela McCluskey. Elsewhere, Page enlists the talents of Matt Alber on “Agnus Dei” and Gabriel & Dresden alum Jan Burton on “Traces Remain” and the raucous “I’ve Had Friends.” On the moody “In The Dark,” Page himself takes a turn on the mic at the urging of another G&D contributor, Molly Bancroft, who was initially tapped to provide the vocals. For Page, it was simply the next logical progression in his maturation as a producer.
“I want to work with singer/songwriters who have depth to their lyrics, and I’m trying to bring influences in from other genres,” says Page. “It’s tragic to see all the tracks on Beatport that are just made for clubs. They’re great for what they are, but it’s not necessarily something you want to have in your car on repeat, or listen to again in 10 years. This album is really a reflection of myself, and I want these songs to last a long time.” {tab=Video}

Now on his second US tour of the year, Ferry has also played the Creamfields tour and across Asia and South America. Even at this stage in his career, he’s discovering new things, stepping into uncharted territory and enjoying every minute of it.
“One of the unexpected highlights was when I played in Syria,” he explains. “I didn’t really know what to expect. They rarely have DJs play over there, so it was on a tennis court with a clubhouse next to it in the middle of the desert. It was great. The crowd was chaotic – in a good way.”
Playing to music lovers where the number of club events fall drastically short of somewhere like Europe or the UK, for example, is always destined to garner a rapturous response but this one made Ferry’s year.
While Ferry is still very much willing to lay down the sort of up-tempo big-room trance vibes he is best known for, a recent engagement with the deeper, more melodic side of house music has lead him to slot the odd 128/130BPM record into his sets.
“House music can be warmer, groovier and still have a party feel,” says Ferry. “Trance is much more melodic, so it is great that those two genres are really meeting each other at the moment. It creates a lot of space for everybody.”
A greater willingness to feed more gradual, slow-burning vibes into the mix has been spurred by the recent production of part two of his ‘Once Upon A Night’ mix series; a release that, as the title suggests, sets out to take the listener on a musical journey.

Amid an arsenal of flashing lights, mesmerizing pyrotechnics, ascending fireworks and pulsating beats, tens of thousands of people are singing at the top of their lungs to his classic productions and latest hits. They clamor to get as close to the stage as possible at a recent concert to get a better view of the man pulling the strings behind the decks. From Malaysia to Melbourne, Lebanon to Los Angeles, the scene is eerily similar, with dance music fans the world over experiencing the latest show of a living legend. Few DJs can inspire this level of pomp and furor.
But then again, few have reached the levels of Ferry Corsten.
It’s easy to get hyperbolic and excessive when talking about DJs, but with dance music pioneer Ferry Corsten, whose musical productions and DJ sets have combined trance, house, and electro, the facts speak for themselves: Best Producer of the Year (Ericsson Music Awards). Best Trance DJ (Ibiza DJ Awards). And consistently voted as one of the Top 10 DJs in the world for almost a decade according to DJ Magazine. Since his immersion on the scene in the late 1990s, the Dutch musician has amassed best-selling albums, nearly a dozen gold singles, and countless other awards. Still, as longtime fans already know, Corsten has never been one to rest on his laurels.
This DJ/producer, who has just toured with his Twice in A Blue Moon: The Experience show, has played to hundreds of thousands of fans across the globe and has been busier than ever strengthening the link between his own musical production and DJ show elements. Based on his last artist album of the same name (featuring the hugely successful singles “We Belong,” “Radio Crash,” and “Made of Love” and released on Corsten’s own record label Flashover Recordings), the show is just the latest in a career that has melded influential productions with unprecedented live sets. In stark contrast to the typical DJ set that focuses solely on the DJ himself, Blue Moon’s 6-hour plus set sees Corsten as only one part of a grand, visual production, bringing the crowd into the party instead of lecturing and dictating like so many of his peers.
It’s this humility and desire to interact with his fans which has helped propel Ferry Corsten as one of the most sought after DJs in music. A far cry from the usual arrogant spinner that preaches to his crowd from on high, Corsten has enacted a number of projects designed to get his fans as close to the man himself as possible. In 2007, the DJ began “Corsten’s Countdown,” a weekly radio show that sees Corsten highlighting his favorite new tracks by artists both known and unsigned. Keeping in line with his desire for full interaction with his audience, fans can vote on their favorite tracks each week, which determines Corsten’s Countdown Chart, a Top 10 show at the end of each month. In addition, the recently released DVD Ferry Corsten – Backstage follows the artist as he prepares for both the release of his last artist album and his annual legendary “Full On Ferry” event in Rotterdam. It’s a life that has been virtually raised on music. As a 9-year old kid growing up in Holland, Ferry Corsten became obsessed with both The Soul Show and Disco Mix Club, shows that specialized in club music and introduced Corsten to deejaying. Cut to the mid-1990s and a wildly prolific Corsten can be found producing two to three releases a week under a dizzying amount of aliases (System F, Gouryella) and record labels before starting Tsunami, his first imprint. His sixth release for the label, the trance anthem “Out Of The Blue,” went Top 20 in the U.K., sparked a massive bidding war for the producer and revolutionized dance music production. Since then, Corsten has remixed tracks from everyone from U2 to Moby to Public Enemy, released three albums under his own name and put out a myriad amount of compilations (Trance Nation, Passport) and singles under various guises.
While the producer is best known for his trance classics, Corsten has also been known to push boundaries creatively and has always been keen to switch up his musical style when the mood hits him. The producer released 2006′s L.E.F., an updated version of the classic electro Corsten loved growing up that earned the #1 spot on iTunes upon its release.
2010 is set to be one of Ferry Corsten’s busiest years yet. In addition to an upcoming album celebrating the 10th anniversary of the ultimate trance anthem “System F: Out of the Blue,” Corsten is busy preparing his latest compilation album with exclusive material and another full-length under his own name with an accompanying grand production tour set to kick off sometime next year.
It’s an ambitious schedule, but one in which Ferry Corsten has built his career on in past years. Someone who has had as many hits, rocked as many dance floors, produced so many classics, as Corsten would be forgiven for taking a hiatus and basking in the accolades. But there are still future classics to be made and people the world over to be entertained. And with a master who has already proven himself time and again running the show, the legend’s career is just starting.

The French DJ/producer Joachim Garraud has a career which spans more than two decades, from his pioneering DJ sets at Boy Club in Paris in 1989, through to performing with French icon Jean-Michel Jarre in front of an unimaginable 2.4 billion television watchers on New Year’s Eve 1999 in Cairo, up to more recently becoming the first French DJ to play at Berlin’s Love Parade in front of over a million people.
Garraud’s studio pedigree is equally impressive, having remixed and produced artists such as the aforementioned Jean-Michel Jarre, David Bowie, Kylie Minogue, Cassius, Moby and many more. Perhaps most relevant here is his work his F*ck Me I’m Famous co-founder on albums, producing and writing songs.
Continuing the flow of ideas, Garraud created his own ‘Space Invaders’ community for first solo album ‘Invasion’, which allowed each fan to create their own CD and artwork making a unique, personal collector’s item.
A brand-new ‘Invasion 2011′ album will be coming next year,” along with an exciting new live audio-video show. As he has recently signed a deal with Unlimited Productions, (producers of Tiësto and Ferry Corsten’s shows), Garraud’s ideas should not be lacking in opportunities to come to fruition.
Bio
Born in Nantes on the 27th September 1968, Joachim Garraud was classically trained before deciding to turn to his now passion, electronic music.
It was at the Boy club in Paris in 1989, that Joachim first began to DJ. His success at the Boy led him to immerse himself in the universe of writing and production at the heart of radio Maxximum, France’s first national radio entirely devoted to dance. Later on, he featured in the first rave in Moscow, known as the Youri Gagarine Party which brought over 300,000 people together in 1991. Inspired by this, Joachim became DJ at Paris’ infamous Queen club between 1993 and 1997.
But whilst club shows were still a thrill for Joachim, he strived for the feeling he got when playing in front of huge crowds. In 1999, he got the opportunity to relive this feeling once again by playing in front of a massive 2.4 billion television watchers on New Years Eve in Cairo with French icon, Jean-Michel Jarre for his show entitled “Metamorphoses”. This work propelled him to become a digital pioneer and create along with Jean-Charles Carre, his own recording studio in the heart of Paris which allowed him to remix, arrange and produce artists such as David Guetta, Jean-Michel Jarre, Paul Johnson, Deep Dish, David Bowie, OMD, Kylie Minogue, Mylene Farmer, Cassius, Ceronne, Moby, Robbie Rivera and many more. He also created in 2000, the label Gumprod, in association with David Guetta and Jean-Charles Carre.
More than a simple DJ and producer, Joachim developed a brand new concept which fused the DJ world with live musical improvisation, creating a genuine show, which was an instant success and attracted attention from all four corners of the globe. This was further enhanced when he created a community which he named, Space Invaders. Yet whilst live shows were gaining a strongly loyal fanbase for Joachim, his production was also gaining him a good deal of attention when in 2001, he co- wrote and co-produced David Guetta’s “Just a little more love” album, which featured the number one hit “Love, don’t let me go”, staying at 12 weeks at the top of the charts and selling over 500,000 copies in France alone.
2004 and 2005 were busy years for Joachim respectively. He co-produced David Guetta’s The World is Mine. This all led to the creation of the F*** me i’m Famous record label along with David. 2005 saw him release “Summer Moon”, a collaborative project with Tim Deluxe, Bob Sinclar and David Guetta. The year was capped off with a double gold disc for his work on Guetta Blaster which was a great success and sold over 200,000 copies in France. By now, honors and attention were on Joachim, proven by his 2006 Grammy nomination with David Guetta, for the best remix of the year. His own Zemixx podcasts and live videos then became ranked 1st and 2nd position in the iTunes Podcast chart in France. The end of 2006 saw Joachim become the first ever French DJ to play at Berlin’s Love Parade in front of over 1 million people.
In the last three years, Joachim has been busy, firstly being named as godfather of Paris’ Technoparade. He later won the “Trophee de la Nuit” in 2007 for Best French DJ, as well as being crowned Best Electro House DJ by Burn FG DJ Awards. The following year, Cathy Guetta invited him to take part in the Unighted show at the Stade de France in front of 45,000 people and featuring 4 of his peers, Carl Cox, Tiesto, Guetta and Martin Solveig.
Later in 2008, Joachim comes up with another groundbreaking concept when he launches his first solo album entitled “Invasion”. Instead of following tradition, Joachim allows each fan to create their own CD and artwork, meaning that each CD is unique and a collectors item.
This is followed up by The Box Invasion which is limited to 2000 copies and sold exclusively through Virgin Megastores and features 8 CDs and 2 DVDs; Joachim does a live session in Virgin’s Champs Elysees store to launch the product. Fans and media alike can only respect both his work ethic and visionary movement, which ends up being rewarded by a 27th placed position in DJ Mag’s Top 100 DJ’s.
2009 saw Joachim receive the Best French Producer accolade from Only for DJ’s magazine. Other notable mentions include the release of Toolroom Knights, a double CD on the prestigious English label, as well as launching his own iPhone application and producing remixes for the likes of Tocadisco, Felix Da Housecat, Robbie Rivera and Basement Jaxx. He also shot a video to his track “Wrecking Ball” in New York and announced the first Inox Park festival in Paris which will take place on the 3rd July 2010 in Chatou. Further to this, the compilation “ClubFG Zemixx” was launched with glaring success at Paris’ Queen club.
2010 sees Joachim come in 3rd position in Radio FG’s Top World DJ’s ranking as well as putting pen to paper and signing a deal with Unlimited Productions, producers of Tiesto and Ferry Corsten, taking his Space Invaders themed show to new heights and infinitely pushing the boundaries.

Having stormed into the highest Top 100 ranking of any Russian DJ in 2009, Bobina has stuck to the promises he made last year by focusing on gigs outside of his homeland in 2010. He’s more than half-finished a new album, and continued with his weekly radio show. And started his own TV channel!
“This has been a year of work. I haven’t done many 12-inch productions because I’ve been focusing on my album,” states Bobina. “I don’t like working on the road, in hotels or on trains, I love to produce in my home studio in Moscow, so I’ve had many gigs in Europe, closer to home.
“I think people will be surprised by my album,” he posits, “there are some interesting collaborations on it and, because I started as a musician and not a DJ, I think that will also shine through.”
Wherever he is in the world, though, Bobina religiously records a two-hour radio show that goes out across Russia every Wednesday evening.
“It takes me about one day out of every week to record/prepare it if I don’t do it live from the Moscow studio, but I love doing it,” he asserts. If all that sounds like a lot of work, you might be wondering why the man has decided to start a TV channel
“People in Russia don’t believe you when you say you are successful outside this country. Other big Russian DJs in the past lied about where they played. I don’t, so I decided to start filming the other countries I go to so I can prove it to them!”

ResuRection 2010’ News & Forthcoming Album News
Dima has done a club-busting refresh of that legendary chart-topping bleep-fest, ‘ResuRection’. PPK vs. Bobina’s ‘ResuRection 2010’ has already been scoring big plays from Armin, Ferry, Oakey and many others and you can lay first ears on it by checking Episode 4 of Bobina TV. In other music news Bobina has confirmed that 2011 will be an artist album year for him, with his new long-player likely to appear in the second quarter of the coming 365. Nice!
New Bobina TV
It’s 2 for the ‘price’ of 1 on Bobina TV this month as our globetrotting deck-master sets about rocking two capital cities… And how! First up it’s the high speed train to St Petersburg for the big, bad & massive Global Gathering event. It features a cast of clubbing thousands, some very pert derrieres and the most optimistic Eric Morillo and Cosmic Gate impressions we’ve ever seen (take a bow Tony McGuiness and Paavo Siljamäki!). If that doesn’t sell you on a viewing, nothing will. But heh, we’re not done yet! From St Petersburg it’s back to Moscow and all hands on decks at Moscow Day celebrations. Slap-bang in the centre of Lubyanskaya Square, Dima delivered a crowd pleaser of a set, maxing it out with tracks from the new wave of Russian trance producers. Lunar Eclipse in Washington DC: Tuesday December 21, 2010 (Pics)
When Earth’s big fat ass gets between the Sun and the Moon, you get a spectacular show as the Moon is cast into darkness behind its shadow. Much like Rush Limbaugh and his poor shoes; forever lost the shadows from a much larger body. The little light that does reach the moon casts an evil reddish pale across its face like the political map of the USA after the 2010 midterm elections. It looks as if it were conquered by Space-faring Republicans. God save the Moon.
