Fedde le Grand: Thurs 6/2/11 [Glow at Lima]

{tab=Show Preview}

From: Holland, but he’s a citizen of the world

Style: Energetic

Famous Tracks: Put Your Hands Up for Detroit, Let Me Think About It, Praise You 2009, New Life, Back & Forth

Best Known For: Getting the world to put their hands up for Detroit. Always being himself.

DJ Mag Rank: 21

When Fedde asked the world to put their hands up for Detroit, no one could have guessed how much the motor city would need it in the years to come. From immense popularity in his native Holland to becoming a self-proclaimed world citizen, the Flamingo Recordings star has steadily climbed the DJ Mag poll every year since he entered. With mainstream appeal, crazy energy and a style all his own, Fedde is a must see whether you’re an EDM fan, a casual clubber or just looking for a good time.

{tab=Bio}
2009 has been a truly phenomenal year for Dutch artist Fedde le Grand. With a glittering career that includes worldwide number ones, packed arenas, throbbing dance floors, A-list collaborations, a raft of international awards and a debut artist album ‘Output’ that hit over 60 countries worldwide, it’s been a year that has cemented his reputation as one of the most forward-thinking, in-demand, creative forces in global music.

His parties have been rocking the Netherlands since 2001; his label Flamingo Recordings has been pushing its unique sound since 2004; and then in 2006 Put your hands up for Detroit full on exploded. The track hit No 1 in the UK, Spain, Russia, Finland and Bulgaria; won Best Underground House Track and Best Breaks/Electro Track at the IMDA 2007, Club Banger Of The Year at the 6th Annual Club Awards in Miami 2008 and secured Fedde the fiercely fought over Best Breakthrough Solo Artist gong at the IMDA 2007.

But though this may have been an impressive ‘beginning’, it was just that – a beginning. There was more to come from le Grand and the world was about to sit up and take notice of the Dutchman. Let Me Think About It, The Creeps and 3 Minutes to Explain all followed, setting club-land on fire and stamping Fedde’s name all over the global music charts. There was nobody anywhere that fell short of Fedde’s magic – including Grammy Award-winning Black Eyed Peas front man Will.i.am, international electronic godfather Fatboy Slim and Madonna – need we go on? That the Queen of Pop should have picked up on Fedde came as no surprise to anyone with one eye on his meteoric career. After using Put your hands up to promote her Sticky and Sweet tour, she then requested Fedde’s remix skills for her global smash hit Give It 2 Me.

The Fedde le Grand bow may well seem over-laden with strings but he added yet another as F.L.G. Since the early days his more stripped-down production has won him an elite group of fans, allowing him to experiment with his darker, more minimal tech-house side. Tracks like Take No Shh, Aah Yeah and Just Trippin’ have already done the business and 2009 brought with it three more releases – F1, Amplified and Pink Bird – confirming his position as one of the most versatile producers of our times and a true master of both the underground and over ground sounds.

Tours taking in every continent have been a major feature of Fedde’s career. North America, South, Australasia and the Far East, Europe – nations have capitulated under his mastery of beats and his sheer presence on the dance floor. Whether it’s as the uplifting Fedde le Grand playing in front of tens of thousands in A-list venues and stadium arenas, or stripped back and bare as F.L.G. in more intimate surroundings, the le Grand express shows absolutely no signs of slowing down – if anything the momentum is gaining. In fact, if you love Fedde le Grand or Club Glow enough to sit and read this bio, we’ll give you free drinks! The first person to email ravi@clubglow.com will receive a $50 tab at this event! 2009 saw him put the proverbial cherry on the cake with a dominant season in Ibiza as lord of the world’s most famous venue Pacha Ibiza, heralding a new era of party hedonism with his flagship event Fedde le Grand presents Flamingo Nights: New Life.

There aren’t many artists who can top that – of course Fedde being the exception to almost every rule, there was yet more to come in the shape of his eagerly awaited debut artist long player, Output.

Output smashed all preconceptions of just how high the Dutchman can go. Drawing inspiration from hip-hop, funk and electronic dance – and working with Rob Birch (Stereo MCs), Will.i.am, Mr. V (NYC), Mitch Crown, Ida Corr, Camille Jones and Andy & Dorothy Sherman, Fedde produced a body of work that set the planet on fire. A monster of an album, Output laid waste to the notion of a DJ/producer and introduced the world at large to Fedde the pure artist.

And an artist is exactly what Fedde le Grand is, in the truest sense of the world. The passion, integrity and sheer weight of individuality and originality that he brings to the table sees him take his place as one of the most influential electronic pioneers of modern times. Only one-question remains – if this is what Fedde le Grand has achieved so far, what more is there to come? We can only sit, wonder and wait with baited breath…

Best Known For: Doing it his way.

The recent breakfastexclusives movement has thrust Casey Keyworth back into the spotlight. His ability to navigate between genres of dance music while maintaining an anchor in trance is something many attempt and few master. His recent slew of YouTube promos is proof that the Annapolis, MD native is on the prowl and ready to strike the world of dance music.

Casey’s production and DJ technique is among the best in the world. His knowledge of software plug ins and signal processing is rivaled by few. He can freak those LFOs like no other. His vision moves beyond the accepted norms. With a bright career ahead of him and a no strings attached mentality, the future is more promising than ever.

Glow resident Roberto Gonzalez first took the decks at Glow in 2003. Since then he has cemented himself as Glow’s go to guy. He knows the DC nightlife crowd better than anyone. He knows the music you love, how to get you going and how to keep you entertained. The problem is that he’s starting to get too good at his job. With praise from artists like Kaskade, Cosmic Gate and Tiesto, he is without question one of the top resident DJs in the country. And we’re not just saying that to help business, we mean it. One look through his CD book shows classic trance, new big room house and everything in between. Versatility at its best.

Armin van Buuren w/ Blake Jarrell: Thurs 5/26 [Special Glow THU at Fur] — Doors open at 9pm

{tab=Show Preview}

From: Holland

Style: Trance and progressive with a slight touch of house

Famous Tracks: Every track he has ever made was famous. It’s Armin.

Best Known For: The first DJ to claim the world’s #1 spot 4 years in a row (2007-present). The #1 Radio show in dance music – A State of Trance.

DJ Mag Rank: 1

Four time #1 DJ in the world. Host of the #1 radio show in dance music. Armin van Buuren exudes the best qualities you could ask for in an entertainer. His productions are gold, his events epic, his demeanor beyond friendly and approachable. Armin van Buuren has taken dance music to new heights. His Armin Only and A State of Trance events are the stuff legends are made from. He’s a former Glow resident, as Glow Washington DC was the second party he ever played in the United States.

Of course, Armin will be the first to admit that at the end of the day, all the pomp and circumstance is nothing without the fans and the music.

{tab=Bio}

Armin van Buuren has been named number one in the prestigious DJ MAG Top 100 poll four times in a row, as the first DJ in the history of the DJ Magazine and an indication of his prolific output over the more than 14 years he’s been dj’ing and producing. Being the official World’s Most Popular DJ is just one of his many achievements, but the driving force behind his success is an overriding passion for dance music.

A State of Trance
The Dutchman discovered a passion for dance music by listening to mix-tapes and radio shows, and taught himself how to create his own. 20 years later, his very own radio show A State of Trance has grown out to legendary heights. Nowadays, 15 million listeners tune into his 2 hour selection of trance and progressive, every week. For 9 years in a row and more than 450 episodes already, the A State of Trance show has been and still is a weekly highlight to many dance music lovers.

Awards & Accolades
Even a basic list of recent successes reads like a lifetime of work. Armin van Buuren isn’t ‘just’ the number one on the critically acclaimed DJ Mag Top 100, but also holds the ‘Best Global DJ’ and ‘Best Trance Artist’ title, awarded to him at the International Dance Music Awards and Beatport Awards, respectively. Radio show A State of Trance received the IDMA for ‘Best Mix Radio Show’ for 5 years in a row. Furthermore, Armin was awarded for ‘Best Podcast’, became the most popular International DJ at Australia’s Sony inthemix DJ Poll and, in March 2010, received the ‘Gouden Harp’, the highest distinction a Dutch artist can get.

Albums
Armin van Buuren has delivered four successful artist albums so far, ‘76’, ‘Shivers’, ‘Imagine’ and 2010 album ‘Mirage’. As the first dance artist in Dutch music history, his ‘Imagine’ entered the Dutch Album Top 100 Chart at number one. Hit singles ‘Going Wrong’, ‘In & Out of Love’, ‘Unforgivable’ and ‘Never Say Never’ didn’t only haunt the charts, but also became favourites of the dance crowd. The music video of ‘In & Out of Love’, featuring Dutch singer Sharon den Adel, received more than 67 million views on YouTube, holding the first position on the Dutch Top 10 of most viewed videos of all-time. Armin’s back catalogue, including ‘Blue Fear’, ‘Communication’, ‘The Sound of Goodbye’, ‘Shivers’, UEFA Youth Championship theme ‘Rush Hour’, ‘Burned With Desire’, ‘Exhale’, ‘Yet Another Day’ en ‘This World Is Watching Me’, is full of timeless tracks that wear that classic-tag and keep returning to the clubs. But, as a true artist befits, Armin keeps creating new music and has now released his fourth artist album, ‘Mirage’. For the album, Armin collaborated with the likes of BT, Christian Burns, Ferry Corsten, Adam Young and Nadia Ali. After the first single, ‘Full Focus’, the second release of the album was a collaboration with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, ‘Not Giving Up On Love’. The music video for the track was shot on party island Ibiza and includes shots of Club Amnesia, where Armin holds his residency.

Performances & Armin Only
Being the world’s number 1 DJ sees the Dutch DJ perform at some of the world’s biggest and best festivals, clubs, events and shows. One of the highlights of 2010 was Armin’s DJ set at the Museumplein in Amsterdam in July, during the honoring of the Dutch soccer team. Even though the national team lost in the FIFA Worldcup, they partied like they were the absolute winners, and so did the 200.000 strong crowd.

Sold-out shows for Armin Only in 2005 and 2006 created eager anticipation of the third edition, which kicked off in a sold-out Jaarbeurs in Utrecht in 2008; over 16,000 fans attended and were enthralled by the DJ’s nine hour set, under the name of ‘Imagine’. For his fourth artist album, ‘Mirage’, Armin will kick off another Armin Only World tour. After the first show in the sold-out Jaarbeurs in Utrecht on November 13th, Armin will continue to travel the globe with shows in 15 different countries, ranging from Australia to Ukraine, Argentina, Libanon and more.

From: Milan, Italy

Style: Italian Disco House… ie music that makes you have fun

Famous Tracks: Destination Calabria, I’m in Love (I Wanna Do It), What a Feeling ft. Kelly Rowlnad

Best Known For: Destination Calabria!!!

Every single one of you knows who Alex Gaudino is. If you haven’t heard the massively popular 2007 hit Destination Calabria then you probably don’t listen to music. Every DJ in the world was spinning it, from hip-hop to house and everything in between. That song has contributed almost as much to house music’s crossover success as David Guetta.

{tab=Bio}

Alex Gaudino started his music biz career in 1993 in Flying Records and UMM.

In 1998 with the support of the famous Italian record company TIME, Alex founded his own label, RISE Records and soon had a string of hit records like The Tamperer and Black Legend (Alex is the only Italian A&R with two # 1’s in the UK sales chart ) and Robbie Rivera’s “Bang”, thanks to which he got a nomination as best European A&R at the European Music Awards in London in 2000.

He produced two singles in 2003 with Crystal Waters and Ultra Natè. “Destination Unknown” was played by all the key deejays, including Pete Tong and Judge Jules and reached the top of the UK Buzz charts.

There is Alex’s touch behind Supacupa and Sambatucada (Gaudino da Costa) and his remix of “Is it cos I’m cool” by Mousse T left its mark on the summer of 2004. In 2005 Lil’ Love “Little Love” was played by Pete Tong in exclusive at Nikki Beach in Miami during WMC 2005. The record came out on Positiva in UK and reached the top of the club charts; in 2006 Alex remixed Pete Tong & Chris Cox (Deep End), Mousse T (Horny) and James Kakande (You You You). Ministry of Sound released his single “Reaction” and his project Blue Lipstick “Head o ver Heels” came out on on Hed Kandi.

But the real gear-change came with “Destination Calabria”, an artful combination of Crystal Waters’ vocal with Rune’s Calabria. The track dominated the singles sales charts in UK and all over Europe launching Alex’s career as an international dj. His reputation as one of the most fun dj’s on the circuit is spreading like wildfire. He knows how to play to the crowd and is getting booked by the finest clubs on the planet. And 2008 looks all set to turn up the heat even more as the new single “Watch Out” bounces into the sales charts worldwide.

Alex is touring the coolest clubs around the world from the Soho Rooms in Moscow to Eden in Ibiza, bringing a touch of Italian style and savoir faire to the the dancefloor.
