Bio

Argentinean rock band formed in 1991. Their first hit came out the following year. The Sony Music album La Pachanga, which includes a song by the same name, sold more than 100,000 copies and its main title was an instant hit in South America. Vocalist Mario Gómez and guitarist Jorge Risso were previously playing in a band called Identikit. The group didn’t get the good reviews they were expecting, so they decided to start a new project along with drummer Carlos González, bassist Gerardo Pugliani, keyboardist Gustavo Sacchetti, and singers Karina Di Lorenzo and Natalia Moscariello. Vilma Palma e Vampiros recorded 3980 in 1993, reaching platinum status in their country and touring around Latin America. In 1994, Fondo Profundo proved their popularity in the Latin market. The album was followed by 1995’s Sepia, Blanco y Negro, 1996’s En Vivo, 1997’s Angeles y Demonios, and 15 Grandes Exitos, a compilation of their greatest hits. In 1998, Vilma Palma e Vampiros released Hecatombe Disco and, with the beginning of the new millennium, the album 7.

Jamaican native Sean Paul recently released his highly anticipated sixth studio album, Full Frequency, in February on Atlantic/VP Records. The first of the albums songs, “Other Side Of Love,”, is an up-tempo track exploring complications in relationships that hit iTunes on June 10th internationally and June 11th in the US. Co-produced by super producer Benny Blanco and the Cataracs, the song was the first taste of Full Frequency and was quickly followed by the club banger “Entertainment” featuring 2Chainz & Juicy J and “Entertainment 2.0” also featuring Nicki Minaj. Sean Paul also teamed up with Damian Marley for “Riot,”an energetic track that includes infusions of dancehall, hip-hop and EDM. The first official single off the album is “WANT DEM ALL” featuring Konshens.“Want Dem All” “Other Side of Love,” “Riot” and “Entertainment 2.0” follow Sean Paul’s most recent release, Tomahawk Technique, which was released throughout various international territories in 2012, including the US in September, to rave reviews. Continuing Sean’s history of crafting hit records, the album was anchored by Sean’s singles, “Got 2 Luv U” ft. Alexis Jordan, which became a Top Ten hit in eight countries, reaching Number One in France and receiving Gold or Platinum status in five, as well as the infectious anthem, “She Doesn’t Mind” and the Kelly Rowland assisted “How Deep Is Your Love.” The collection featured production from industry heavyweights like Benny Blanco (Katy Perry, Justin Bieber, Wiz Khalifa, Ke$ha), Rico Love (Natasha Bedingfield, Nelly, Diddy, Usher) and Stargate (Rihanna, Ne-Yo, Chris Brown).

Armed with a new look and an energized passion for music, the past year has produced a creative outburst from Sean, as his emergence as a producer, helming the track “Roll Wid Di Don” on Tomahawk Technique and working with artists like Cecile, Tami Chynn, Mr. Vegas, Wayne Marshall on his critically acclaimed Riddim album “Blaze Fia” and it’s follow up “Material,” has been matched by a stream of new music and collaborations with artists including Pitbull, T-Pain, Ludacris, Bob Sinclar, CongoRock, Mya and Kelly Rowland. After a brief hiatus from performing, Sean Paul came back onto the scene with an international summer tour visiting Portugal, Rome, Naples, Cape Verde, Ibiza, Germany, London (for the One Love Peace Festival), Bristol, South Cyprus and Canada. Never one to stay inactive, Sean has performed in over 100 countries.

Massive ‘EDM’ Concerts Bring DC to Life

Dance. Live. Love.

echostage washington dc
Swedish House Mafia’s Steve Angello performs to a capacity crowd to close out 2012.

The reopening of Echostage in NE DC’s Langdon neighborhood has reestablished The District’s #1 nightlife concert series. Internationally recognized, Glow has been bringing the world’s best DJs to DC since 1999. David Guetta referred to it as his favorite party in the world in 2010.

Recent Glow at Echostage events featuring David Guetta and Calvin Harris have cemented a large-scale, weekly concert option for Washingtonians.

With a sizable production (stage, LED wall/lasers, the same sound system that tours with Coldplay), wrap-around mezzanine, four bars and a ‘no-frills’ warehouse-style vibe; Echostage was named the #38 club worldwide (#4 in America) in the 2013 DJ Magazine Top 100 Clubs poll. The publication’s yearly DJ and club listings are definitive guides to global dance music trends.

While Glow’s weekly ‘EDM’ series is the foundation of Echostage events, they are far from the only options the venue offers. Inauguration Weekend saw hip-hop icon 50 Cent and the infamous Young Jeezy perform together. African stars Teddy Afro and Jah Lude have also performed for Washington’s sizeable Ethiopian community. The venue also hosts a World Boxing Union event this June. With more concert events in the pipeline, Echostage has, according to many, skyrocketed to the top position when it comes to concert venues in DC.
