From: Holland
Style: Trance and progressive with a slight touch of house
Famous Tracks: Every track he has ever made was famous. It’s Armin.
Best Known For: The first DJ to claim the world’s #1 spot 4 years in a row (2007-present). The #1 Radio show in dance music – A State of Trance.
DJ Mag Rank: 1
Four time #1 DJ in the world. Host of the #1 radio show in dance music. Armin van Buuren exudes the best qualities you could ask for in an entertainer. His productions are gold, his events epic, his demeanor beyond friendly and approachable. Armin van Buuren has taken dance music to new heights. His Armin Only and A State of Trance events are the stuff legends are made from. He’s a former Glow resident, as Glow Washington DC was the second party he ever played in the United States.
Of course, Armin will be the first to admit that at the end of the day, all the pomp and circumstance is nothing without the fans and the music.
{tab=Bio}
Armin van Buuren has been named number one in the prestigious DJ MAG Top 100 poll four times in a row, as the first DJ in the history of the DJ Magazine and an indication of his prolific output over the more than 14 years he’s been dj’ing and producing. Being the official World’s Most Popular DJ is just one of his many achievements, but the driving force behind his success is an overriding passion for dance music.
A State of Trance
The Dutchman discovered a passion for dance music by listening to mix-tapes and radio shows, and taught himself how to create his own. 20 years later, his very own radio show A State of Trance has grown out to legendary heights. Nowadays, 15 million listeners tune into his 2 hour selection of trance and progressive, every week. For 9 years in a row and more than 450 episodes already, the A State of Trance show has been and still is a weekly highlight to many dance music lovers.
Awards & Accolades
Even a basic list of recent successes reads like a lifetime of work. Armin van Buuren isn’t ‘just’ the number one on the critically acclaimed DJ Mag Top 100, but also holds the ‘Best Global DJ’ and ‘Best Trance Artist’ title, awarded to him at the International Dance Music Awards and Beatport Awards, respectively. Radio show A State of Trance received the IDMA for ‘Best Mix Radio Show’ for 5 years in a row. Furthermore, Armin was awarded for ‘Best Podcast’, became the most popular International DJ at Australia’s Sony inthemix DJ Poll and, in March 2010, received the ‘Gouden Harp’, the highest distinction a Dutch artist can get.
Albums
Armin van Buuren has delivered four successful artist albums so far, ‘76’, ‘Shivers’, ‘Imagine’ and 2010 album ‘Mirage’. As the first dance artist in Dutch music history, his ‘Imagine’ entered the Dutch Album Top 100 Chart at number one. Hit singles ‘Going Wrong’, ‘In & Out of Love’, ‘Unforgivable’ and ‘Never Say Never’ didn’t only haunt the charts, but also became favourites of the dance crowd. The music video of ‘In & Out of Love’, featuring Dutch singer Sharon den Adel, received more than 67 million views on YouTube, holding the first position on the Dutch Top 10 of most viewed videos of all-time. Armin’s back catalogue, including ‘Blue Fear’, ‘Communication’, ‘The Sound of Goodbye’, ‘Shivers’, UEFA Youth Championship theme ‘Rush Hour’, ‘Burned With Desire’, ‘Exhale’, ‘Yet Another Day’ en ‘This World Is Watching Me’, is full of timeless tracks that wear that classic-tag and keep returning to the clubs. But, as a true artist befits, Armin keeps creating new music and has now released his fourth artist album, ‘Mirage’. For the album, Armin collaborated with the likes of BT, Christian Burns, Ferry Corsten, Adam Young and Nadia Ali. After the first single, ‘Full Focus’, the second release of the album was a collaboration with Sophie Ellis-Bextor, ‘Not Giving Up On Love’. The music video for the track was shot on party island Ibiza and includes shots of Club Amnesia, where Armin holds his residency.
Performances & Armin Only
Being the world’s number 1 DJ sees the Dutch DJ perform at some of the world’s biggest and best festivals, clubs, events and shows. One of the highlights of 2010 was Armin’s DJ set at the Museumplein in Amsterdam in July, during the honoring of the Dutch soccer team. Even though the national team lost in the FIFA Worldcup, they partied like they were the absolute winners, and so did the 200.000 strong crowd.
Sold-out shows for Armin Only in 2005 and 2006 created eager anticipation of the third edition, which kicked off in a sold-out Jaarbeurs in Utrecht in 2008; over 16,000 fans attended and were enthralled by the DJ’s nine hour set, under the name of ‘Imagine’. For his fourth artist album, ‘Mirage’, Armin will kick off another Armin Only World tour. After the first show in the sold-out Jaarbeurs in Utrecht on November 13th, Armin will continue to travel the globe with shows in 15 different countries, ranging from Australia to Ukraine, Argentina, Libanon and more.

From: Milan, Italy
Style: Italian Disco House… ie music that makes you have fun
Famous Tracks: Destination Calabria, I’m in Love (I Wanna Do It), What a Feeling ft. Kelly Rowlnad
Best Known For: Destination Calabria!!!
Every single one of you knows who Alex Gaudino is. If you haven’t heard the massively popular 2007 hit Destination Calabria then you probably don’t listen to music. Every DJ in the world was spinning it, from hip-hop to house and everything in between. That song has contributed almost as much to house music’s crossover success as David Guetta.
{tab=Bio}
Alex Gaudino started his music biz career in 1993 in Flying Records and UMM.
In 1998 with the support of the famous Italian record company TIME, Alex founded his own label, RISE Records and soon had a string of hit records like The Tamperer and Black Legend (Alex is the only Italian A&R with two # 1’s in the UK sales chart ) and Robbie Rivera’s “Bang”, thanks to which he got a nomination as best European A&R at the European Music Awards in London in 2000.
He produced two singles in 2003 with Crystal Waters and Ultra Natè. “Destination Unknown” was played by all the key deejays, including Pete Tong and Judge Jules and reached the top of the UK Buzz charts.
There is Alex’s touch behind Supacupa and Sambatucada (Gaudino da Costa) and his remix of “Is it cos I’m cool” by Mousse T left its mark on the summer of 2004. In 2005 Lil’ Love “Little Love” was played by Pete Tong in exclusive at Nikki Beach in Miami during WMC 2005. The record came out on Positiva in UK and reached the top of the club charts; in 2006 Alex remixed Pete Tong & Chris Cox (Deep End), Mousse T (Horny) and James Kakande (You You You). Ministry of Sound released his single “Reaction” and his project Blue Lipstick “Head o ver Heels” came out on on Hed Kandi.
But the real gear-change came with “Destination Calabria”, an artful combination of Crystal Waters’ vocal with Rune’s Calabria. The track dominated the singles sales charts in UK and all over Europe launching Alex’s career as an international dj. His reputation as one of the most fun dj’s on the circuit is spreading like wildfire. He knows how to play to the crowd and is getting booked by the finest clubs on the planet. And 2008 looks all set to turn up the heat even more as the new single “Watch Out” bounces into the sales charts worldwide.
Alex is touring the coolest clubs around the world from the Soho Rooms in Moscow to Eden in Ibiza, bringing a touch of Italian style and savoir faire to the the dancefloor.

David Guetta did it!! House music is popular because it deserves to be, not because major record labels and top 40 radio stations tell us so. Thanks to David, people could in theory mention Ferry Corsten, Sven Vath, Flo-Rida and Akon in the same sentence. Imagine 5 years from now, the # 1 MTV (USA) video might belong to Mat Zo, Swedish House Mafia or Sander K. None of it would have happened without David Guetta and his sexy french house. To be honest, it’s already happening. ‘Club Can’t Handle Me’ is currently #9 on the Billboard Hot 100!

{tab=Bio}
As an internationally respected artist/producer/remixer/DJ, DAVID GUETTA’s track record has been impeccable for nearly two decades. Now, in 2010, his career is reaching new peaks: “When Love Takes Over” featuring the lead vocal of multi-platinum pop-R&B songstress Kelly Rowland, took off as a world-wide smash, posting its first national 1 charting in the U.K.; he is also the track producer of Black Eyed Peas’ rousing new 1 single, “I Gotta Feeling,” in whose video clip he makes a cameo appearance. And Guetta’s fourth studio album, ONE LOVE, released August 25th on Astralwerks, is an ambitious, ingeniously crafted album that sets forth nothing less than a bold and beautiful manifesto for the global pop and dance audience. Witness, for example, the phenomenal success of current radio smash-hit “Sexy Bitch” (a.k.a. Sexy Chick) feat. Akon.
“Making this record with so many talented artists was such an amazing experience and the end result is an album infused with all the best flavors of contemporary pop music that will appeal to such a broad audience both on and off the dancefloor,” noted Guetta.
Significantly, it was Guetta’s own defining and assured musical viewpoint as a DJ and producer that attracted the A-listers who make ONE LOVE one of 2009’s most diverse and star-studded album projects. Kelly Rowland, for example, moved to tears at first hearing the instrumental work-in-progress that became “When Love Takes Over” on the dance floor at Guetta’s famed F*** Me I’m Famous party in Cannes, greeted him in the DJ booth, and was later given the track to write to. will.i.am, similarly, had first approached Guetta to contribute to a club-inspired album planned by Black Eyed Peas (the just-released Energy Never Dies) – and their collaboration snowballed to include two tracks on ONE LOVE: the out-of-control “I Wanna Go Crazy,” and “On the Dancefloor,” joined by apl.de.ap, a fresh evocation of the hip-hop/house fusions of the late 1980s.
Throughout the agenda-setting ONE LOVE, Guetta serves up a body-rocking, all-embracing blend of hip-hop, soul and electro – an audacious fusion that’s been sorely missed ever since rap and dance audiences became polarized at the turn of the 1990s. With a global following of nearly five million celebrants at over 200 DJ performances just last year attesting to his musical authority, it’s no wonder that Guetta has emerged as a catalyst and a curator of an exciting new musical hybrid, his magical producer’s touch bringing out the best in all his collaborators — even as accomplished a hook-meister as Akon, who sings the album track “Sexy Bitch.”
A rare dance album spotlighting its vocalists as well as its beats — each singer cast flawlessly in tracks tailored to their individual qualities — every one of ONE LOVE’s vocal collaborations is marked by arresting hooks, inventive musical development, and compelling humanistic messages. Notable among the guests who leave true personal stamps on each song is Chris Willis, the longtime lead vocal collaborator with whom Guetta has shared no less than seven top 10 chartings around Europe, who lends his larger-than-life, testifying vocals to the funky house of “Gettin’ Over” and “Sound of Letting Go.” Recent Grammy winner Estelle imbues the title track with a rich, luminous emotional grace; and Kelly Rowland turns in another vibrant and melodic lead vocal in “It’s the Way You Love Me” worthy of the most stirring of Donna Summer’s dance anthems.
Breakout stars Kid Cudi (“Memories”) and Novel (“Missing You”) also share surprisingly personal stories in a dance format; and, rounding out an album full of high points, Wynter, fresh off a worldwide hit with Flo Rida (“Sugar”), stars in the erotically charged “Toy Friend”.
DAVID GUETTA’s name is synonymous with the world’s greatest house and dance music, and with the parties that bring that music to life. Since releasing his first pioneering single “Up 1 Way” in his native Paris, France in 1992, David Guetta has sold over 2 million albums worldwide and over 3.2 million singles. He has been France’s No. 1 club DJ for a decade, and was named the world’s No. 1 House DJ in 2008. Attesting to his global appeal, Guetta is also a bona-fide YouTube star, holding the record for “most watched” of any artist in the electronic music genre with over 32 million views of his 2007 classic “Love Is Gone”.
In Europe, Guetta has previously released three chart-topping albums (Just a Little More Love, 2002; Guetta Blaster, 2004; Pop Life, 2007). Guetta and his wife Cathy are also famed for staging the mega-sized dance parties, F*** Me I’m Famous, for tens of thousands of house, electro, and dance-loving fans from Ibiza to Miami, New York, London, Barcelona and Paris. They have released four best-selling compilation packages of the same name.

Steve Aoki is a must. It doesn’t matter what kind of music, venues, people, whatever that you like. He puts on one of the best live shows of any musician across any genre in the world. Straight up.
Steve Aoki’s first performance at Glow last November was possibly the most crowded Glow at Fur has ever been. The crowd was insane, the music was rocking something serious and Steve was a maniac! It was like nothing we had ever experienced. From the bouncers to the bartenders; the crowd and the entire Glow crew were speechless as Steve repeatedly jumped on top of the decks, microphone in hand, going ape sh*t, spraying champagne and diving into the crowd multiple times. Nowhere else can you find a DJ putting on a rock show like that!

Famous Tracks: Man with the Red Face, Columbian Soul, Good Times, Conscindo, Beautiful World
Best Known For: Starting the Toolroom movement. Finding time to run a label, publishing company, produce music AND DJ. Leading a new style of house music.
DJ Mag Rank: 53
If you haven’t witnessed the boss of Toolroom Records, a master of tech-house, rock a room… you’ve been missing out. All hell broke loose when Mark Knight took the decks of Lima Washington DC on 2/3/11. With Pleasurekraft, who will without question earn 2011 breakout artist of the year honors, 5/12/11 at Lima should be even bigger!
Mr. Knight is not only known for his wonderful combination of tech-house and progressive, but also his ability to seriously get down and dirty. He is a pioneer of Electronic Dance Music. With a giant grin on his face, Mr. Knight showed the people of DC a damn good time, like always.
His recent collaboration with Tiesto entitled “Beautiful World” is everywhere right now! His Toolroom label has been owning the Beatport charts. We get the best at their peaks!
As Pleasurekraft continues their ascent into the international spotlight, we can’t but worry their days as a Glow resident are numbered. Think about it. How many clubs in the world have residents with top 10 yearly tracks on Beatport, Radio 538 Dance Department episodes, Pete Tong asking for interviews and multiple gala events at WMC.
Not taking advantage of having Pleasurekraft as your resident is like starting a fist fight with a grizzly bear.
{tab=Bio}
Mark Knight’s legacy already ranks him as a leading player in dance music culture. His rise to the forefront has been more than just gigs and remixes; his contribution to the scene via his label Toolroom Records, demonstrates abilities that supercede the glorified title of ‘DJ’.
This year, with a Grammy Nomination for work on the Black Eyed Peas’ multi-platinum album ‘The-End’, 3 of the biggest selling records on Beatport’s ‘Best Sellers List’; ‘Music Matters’ ‘Flauta Magica’ & ‘Good Times’, an IDMA nomination for his Toolroom Knights weekly radio show and a prestigious Beatport award for his single ‘Good Times’ – 2010 has most definitely been a year of colossal achievement.
So where did it all start…
In 2004, with a personal vision for house music, Mark created his own workshop for 21st century dance musicians, Toolroom Records, and with it a new way of thinking.
Since its launch, the Toolroom imprint has developed into an uncontrollable beast, celebrating success as the biggest selling label on Beatport and reaching the milestone of 100 releases in 2009 courtesy of Faithless.
As a producer, Mark has built a reputation for outstanding releases; ‘Man With The Red Face’, ‘Downpipe’, ‘Good Times’, ‘Devil Walking’, consistently topping international dance charts, and has been involved in producing tracks for leading artists, including new output from Faithless and contribution to the latest Underworld album.
And there’s more…
As a DJ, Mark holds international prominence, recognised the world over for his extended 7 hour sets, headlining festivals and clubs from Ultra Music Festival Miami to the Terrace at Space Ibiza.
In 2006, Mark’s belief and desire to inject freshness into a stale club scene, inspired him to programme his own parties, this concept became a reality with the launch of Toolroom Knights at Ministry of Sound, London in October ’06.
Having gained unrivalled success as one of THE superior club nights, Toolroom Knights has gone on to generate great global success and support with Mark headlining Toolroom residencies at Cocoon Frankfurt, Space Miami, Ministry of Sound London, Pacha New York as well as hosting Toolroom arenas at key festivals including; SW4 London, Global Gathering UK, Dance Valley Netherlands.
All in all, it’s been a BIG journey for Mark Knight, pioneering a sound and attitude that’s gained respect from fans and industry people alike hungry for the integrity of Mark’s production skills and quality of Toolroom Knights’ parties. And there’s so much more to come.

Famous Tracks: In the Air, Nothing but Love, One (Swedish House Mafia), The Temper Trap – Sweet Disposition (Axwell and Dirty South Remix), Adrian Lux – Teenage Drime (Axwell Remix), Leave the World Behind, It’s True
Best Known For: Being a deep thinker. Forming 1/3 of Swedish House Mafia. Bringing house music that much closer to the American mainstream.
DJ Mag Rank: 10
Do we have to say anything at all? The man we booked for the biggest night of the year (Thanksgiving Eve) is coming back to DC nightlife for round 2! You can find pictures from the last event here.
As 1/3 of Swedish House Mafia, Axwell essentially took over the world of dance music last year with the hit song ‘One (Your Name).’ The group’s follow up, ‘Miami 2 Ibiza’ as well as Ax’s single ‘Nothing But Love For You’ and remix of ‘Teenage Crime’ have been hammered in clubs from DC to Down Under.
He and friend, producer and Mafia affiliate Dirty South were nominated for the 2011 Grammy for Best Remix with their take on The Temper Trap’s ‘Sweet Disposition.’
2011 has seen a flurry of new releases and remixes on his Axtone label. And of course, something new with Dirty South is in the pipeline!!
{tab=Bio}
The king of the sun-kissed summer anthem; the mogul behind one of the hottest imprints on the planet; a superstar producer and DJ who’s never lost the giddy enthusiasm of a fledgling clubber; and one of the most successful and influential remixers of the 21st century. By anyone’s standards, Axel ‘Axwell’ Hedfors is a giant of modern-day dance music – and he’s only going to get bigger.
Axwell’s steady ascent into clubland aristocracy began when he struck crossover gold with 2004’s glorious ‘Feel The Vibe’. An unstoppably uplifting and instantly memorable track, the original version of ‘Feel The Vibe’ (featuring vocalist Errol Reid) dazzled every corner of clubland, before an overhauled version (with new vocals by Tara McDonald) gate-crashed the UK top 20. 2005’s ‘Watch The Sunrise’ (featuring Steve Edwards) proved to be another unstoppable anthem, as was his 2006 collaboration with fellow Swedish House Mafioso Steve Angello, Supermode’s ‘Tell Me Why’ (released via Ministry Of Sound, it reach #13 in the UK and #3 in the Netherlands). But it was 2007’s rave-referencing ‘I Found U’ (#6 in the UK charts) that really cemented Axwell’s status as a producer who could marry artistic innovation with strong commercial appeal – a rare thing indeed, in any genre of music. Most recently he was one of the forces behind Swedish House Mafia – One (Your Name) featuring Pharell Williams, another top ten UK hit, crashing into the summer charts at #7 and soundtracking every festival, dance event and Ibiza club night.
“I do feel pressure to maintain a certain level of success,” says Axwell. “That’s a weight that lies on my shoulders – but all that pressure comes from myself. I want every tune to be better than the last one: to sound stronger, to be phatter, to work better in a club. So it’s pressure, but it’s good pressure. It pushes me forwards, creatively.”
“For me, it’s all about asking questions of myself. Would I play this? Would I play it during peak time? Is it the phattest thing I’ve ever heard? Is it the most futuristic shit out there? I question the track – and myself – the whole time. I’ve got a good expression: the goose-bumps never lie. If you get goose-bumps during the production stage, then you’re on the right track…”
Axwell’s Midas-like touch – along with his peerless technical ability – has made him the go-to guy for artists looking to get their latest release reworked into a storming dancefloor juggernaut. Madonna, Nelly Furtado, Moby and Pharrell Williams have all come a-knockin’, while productions such as his masterful reworking of Hard-Fi’s ‘Hard To Beat’, his sublime remix of The Temper Trap’s ‘Sweet Disposition’ (along with Dirty South) and of course his unstoppable version of TV Rock’s ‘In The Air’ have gone on to become as big as – or, in many cases, bigger than – the original tracks.
Part of what makes Axwell such a sought-after producer is his dazzling stylistic agility; he can switch between house, techno and electro (and everything in-between) without even breaking a sweat.
“Axwell has an innate feel for the dancefloor,” says long-time fan Judge Jules, “but his versatility is even more impressive. Too many producers get caught in a trademark groove, becoming a prisoner of their own perceived style. Axwell’s material is so varied, but it never fails to rock – big time.”
You only have to take a look over the back catalogue of Axtone, Axwell’s much-admired label
