DJ Mag Rank: If they had stayed together? Top 20 easy. Top 10 likely
Fans across the world were devastated to learn of the split between Josh Gabriel and Dave Dresden in March 2008. There was always the hope of the two reuniting, but it was never likely to happen, or was it?
At their height, Gabriel & Dresden were packing clubs everywhere. Their productions were in everyone’s sets and their biggest supporters included Armin van Buuren, Tiesto, Markus Schulz and Above & Beyond. Their hits (listed above ) are widely considered to be all-time classics. As the Rush Comes and their No One on Earth remix both made the top 10 of the Trance Top 1000. The only other artists with multiple top 10 all time tracks are Tiesto and Armin.
This will be their second club gig since getting back together for NYE in LA. If you have never seen Gabriel & Dresden, you must attend. If you claim to be a fan of dance music, you stopped reading this and bought your ticket. if you’re still reading, what are you waiting for?

Armada man Blake Jarrell adopted Chicago as his new home after Katrina forced him to move from the Big Easy. And although Chicago is the birthplace of house music, we have a feeling his summer residency at Club Amnesia (Ibiza) trumps all other homes.
Blake is constantly in the studio, producing location-inspired tunes and running his Concentrate radio series. This is Armin’s ace right here. His trancey, progressive style of house is literally the PERFECT thing to accompany the G&D’s return.

Best Known For: Pleasurekraft: Going from relative obscurity to having the top selling track on Beatport. Roberto: Being every top DJs favorite opener… Cosmic Gate love him so much they asked him to… well, we can’t announce it yet.
From across the Atlantic Pleasurekraft came together. Kalle and Kaveh, from a chance email encounter resulting from their individual releases on Anjunadeep, to sending session files back and forth. The next thing they knew, their tracks were being played by Nic Fanciull, Sander K and Sasha & Digweed. All of a sudden they had the top track on Beatport, signed to the top booking agencies in dance music and were on a world tour. Of course, when Kaveh isn’t enjoying his new life as a star, he’s residing at Glow DC!
{tab=Bio}
Q: Who is Pleasurekraft??
A: Kaveh Soroush & Kalle Ronngardh’s baby (immaculately conceived of course)
Q: What is Pleasurekraft??
A: A simultaneously visceral and cerebral experience induced only by the seductive, deep, groove heavy, underground techno inspired music that you hear the kids listening to .. – Common side effects include: unrelenting head bobbing giving way to complete surrender to physical movement commonly referred to as ‘dancing’.
Q: Where is Pleasurekraft??
A: In your CD/tape deck/vinyl/mp3/neighborhood Club/Lounge – anywhere where organically inspired synthetic music lurks, ready to jump in your skin and make you move! However, the most concentrated “red spots” have appeared to be in 2 distinct locations – Stockholm, Sweden, and Miami, Florida.
Q: When is Pleasurekraft??
A: Since the dawn of man, to the future of our future of our future…..
Q: Why is Pleasurekraft??
A: Because we are hedonists and when the groove captures you – all you can do is surrender with pleasure.
Roberto started spinning as a hobby that was quickly turned into something that he loves. He has had a life long love of all types of music, but his true love is in Electronic music. His interest was first sparked by attending club events, especially GLOW, introducing him to all the different forms of Electronic dance. Through the years he has experimented with all styles, until he found his true passion…Progressive/Trance.
In 2003, he was granted his big break into the local DC scene, by holding down a residency for CitySonic’s monthly parties located in the Attic at HOME nightclub (now called ULTRA BAR). In 2004, he began to create his own productions with the help of his friend Eric Jao (DJ Enferno). Since then Roberto has been working along side Pete Moutso, Music Director and DJ of GLOW (www.clubglow.com) for the past Five years. Pete has been a big help in mentoring Roberto and has benefited a great deal, which shows in his DJ sets.
In 2007, Roberto made a series of mixes called Images, which help spread his name within DC. The series help people get an idea of what they can expect from Roberto’s dj sets. Now Roberto has established himself as one of the guys to watch out for within the local scene of DC. Currently he is working a productions and collaborating along with his brother Javier and Casey Keyworth (Breakfast) of Flashover Recordings on new productions. The one thing he always shoots for is to be able to share great music and vibe at any of his shows with the crowd.

With a more than respectable Autumn Top 10 on beatport.com, PS1 has moved into Winter 10/11 with enough heat to melt metal! The Moodswing 360 all-star is one of NY’s brightest stars behind the decks. His impressive resume includes events at Cain, 1Oak and Tenjune as well as being a favorite of Diddy. In fact, it seems as though the paparazzi can’t leave the guy alone.
Paris Hilton comes to his events, says hi on a red carpet in LA, and PS1 ends up front page news in all the celebrity gossip columns. Brittney Spears climbs into the booth and starts making out with him and… well, she does things like that anyway. A favorite of Lindsay Lohan and Mary-Kate Olsen, it’s clear that PS1 has quite the buzz going for him. Spinning since he was 12 and discovered at 16 by neighbor DJ Skribble, the NY fly would prefer all that attention be directed on the party itself. All he wants to do is get behind the decks, throw a rager and go home to his sneaker collection at the end of the day.
Check out the pics from the last time DJ PS1 played at Ultrabar!

David Berrie: Thu 2/24 [Glow at Lima]
GLOW Washington DC presents:
David Berrie
myspace.com/djberrie
soundcloud.com/davidberrie
Opening Set by DJ Spaz
Thursday, February 24 2011
Lima Lounge 1401 K St NW
Doors Open at 10pm, Ages 18+
{tab=Show Preview}
From: USA (NY, NY)
Style: house
Best Known For: Spinning for the stars
The son of famous toy manufacturer Russell Berrie, David grew up with the opportunity to do anything he wanted… including nothing. He took piano and violin lessons early on, eventually landing at something a bit cooler, turntables.
Inspired by NY icons like Louie Vega, Danny T, A Tribe Called Quest and De La Soul; by 16 Berrie had honed his skills and was sneaking out of the house to spin at small clubs in Manhattan. From there it was cake.
Been There, Done That: Having performed events for Diddy, Giselle, GQ and Esquire, Berrie’s inner talent eventually came bursting out. With all that instrumental training and all that NY influence, it was only a matter of time before he traded the posh VIP scene for the infectious, let it all hang out world of electronic dance music.
He certainly has our signature!
{tab=Bio}
David Berrie has played innumerable bold-face-name parties for the likes of Diddy, Kanye West, 50 Cent, Gisele Bundchen, and Pharrell Williams. He’s a staple at the most exclusive nightclubs around the world. Top promoters and music aficionados across the globe seek him out. It’s nice work if you can get it, but for David Berrie none of it truly matters.
“I know it sounds corny,” David Berrie says, “but what really matters to me is making great music—music that reaches people, music with integrity, music that makes people dance.” The unassuming 24-year old goes on to cite a constellation of luminary DJs who have inspired him early on: Carl Cox, Louie Vega, and Danny Tenaglia. Which begs the question, what gives this young, talented upstart the nerve to name-check such DJ royalty in conjunction with himself? Hard work and talent.
David Berrie wasn’t born with a silver slipmat on his 1200s. His mother, a Korean immigrant, and his father, the son of Bronx-based Russian immigrants, settled in Englewood, NJ. His dad was the marketing genius behind those ubiquitous Troll dolls. His parents made him study classical piano and violin years before he got his decks. He reached that milestone at the tender age of 13 with two Technics and a used Vestax mixer.
“My older sister originally turned me onto hip-hop,” David Berrie explains. “I got really into golden-era late-80s and early-90s Native Tongues stuff — A Tribe Called Quest, De La Soul, Brand Nubian and other artists like KRS-One, EPMD, and Rakim.” His love of music and his enterprising ways found full expression in his thriving junior high school business making CD mixes for classmates. “It was my first experience curating music,” he says. “It was going great, until the principle called me into his office…”
As hip-hop in the late-90s became increasingly commercialized, David Berrie found refuge in the underground. “I started deeper and deeper into the dance scene,” he explains. “I started discovering DJs like Danny Krivit and Frankie Knuckles, and Larry Levan. I began loading up on classics from Fat Beats and Satellite Records.”
At 16, after endless hours spent in his basement, this self-taught DJ landed his first paying club gig in NYC from a handed over promo cd. At the time, David was sneaking out on buses to shuttle to his gigs. From then on David’s aspirations and masterful skills quickly took him from small rooms to the country’s most high-profile nightclubs including Tao Las Vegas, Webster Hall New York, and Liv Miami.
Soon he became the go-to DJ for international high-profile parties playing for luxury brands like GQ and Vogue and traveling to London, France, Italy, Spain, Mexico, and Croatia. Though he doesn’t like to talk about it, David’s style didn’t go unnoticed; US Weekly recently named him one of “The 25 Most Stylish New Yorkers.”
Most recently, David Berrie has been recording original tracks. President and CEO of dance music mega-label Ultra Records, only needed to hear one of David’s tracks to sign him. This summer single “Take a minute” is due for release in August 2010.{tab=Video}
