Electric Cars in DC – Tesla Motors
Fast, Stylish, Electrified
In an automotive world that demands energy efficiency but still craves style, Tesla Motors has expanded to over 30 stores across North America, Europe, and the Asia/Pacific region since its birth in 2003.
Opening a showroom in downtown DC this past February, Tesla Motors is pioneering the future of electric cars.
Tesla Roadster
The company is best known for its Tesla Roadster – the world’s first all-electric, zero-emission, street-legal sports car. So what’s so special about this car?
- Acceleration from 0-60 mph in 3.7 seconds!
- Range of 245 miles per charge
- Single-gear transmission… just like your first bike
- 13 cool colors to choose from
Although the Tesla Roadster has a base price of $109,000, who said electric cars have to be boring and slow?
Tesla Model S
In 2012, the company will begin commercial production of its new vehicle, the Tesla Model S. An electric alternative to sedans like the BMW 5 Series and Mercedes-Benz E-Class, the Model S will also be competitively priced at roughly $57,000.

- Acceleration from 0-60 mph in 5.6 seconds!
- Range of 300 miles per charge
- Seats 5 people
It only costs $5 to fully recharge a Tesla battery! Compare that to what you pay at the pump!
Tesla is currently developing its third electric car, codenamed Bluestar, which it hopes will hit the streets by 2015. Price tag? Somewhere between $20,000 and $30,000.
The company is also developing an electric crossover SUV, Model X, that’s expected to come out in 2014.
