Let’s give thanks to our family, our health, and oh, Lady Gaga?
ABC has released the preview for their brand-new holiday special A Very Gaga Thanksgiving and in it, the announcer excitedly proclaims that this year, they’re “Giving thanks with a capital G.” For Gaga. Get it?
The television network Gods have decided that there will be no escape from the pop star and her little monsters this year — even on the days when you’re supposed to be spending quality with your family — and you’re going to have to appreciate being “Born This Way” while you eat your turkey and you will like it.
Apparently, Gaga’s Thanksgiving hoopla includes Tony Bennett. Also, chef Art Smith appears at a banquet table filled with Thanksgiving fixings — and a waffle iron — to teach the singer how to prepare deep-fried turkey and waffles for her guests.
Those guests include a small troupe of children, shown in the preview gathered around Gaga while she blows glitter on them. Just like the Pilgrims and Indians did. Other things you can look forward to in the 90-minute special: carving of surprisingly non-bedazzled turkey, a tear-laden interview with Katie Couric, and performances inside of what looks to be the Phantom Of The Opera‘s underground lair.
So strap on your Thanksgiving meat dress and crank up Born this Way or The Fame and have a Very Gaga Thanksgiving airing November 24 on ABC at 9:30pm ET/8:30pmCT.

Upon strolling down 14th street, one would never notice the unmarked, pale door next to Marvin. Marked only by the smoking host that chills outside the door, Gibson looks like what one can only guess an illegal bar might look like during Prohibition.
The host kindly walks guests into the VERY dark room and escorts parties to a table, or the bar. Next, the waitress approaches with an extensive cocktail menu placed on the table lit only by a glowing candle or several. These candle provides the ONLY light in the establishment, minus some drooping lightbulbs over the bar. This can be sexy right? Just be careful walking to the bathroom.
Feeling like one is in the Underground Railroad, fancy drinks are served like the Glittery Bitch, a mix of clear crème de cassis, Rothman & Winter peach liqueur, Maraschino, and champagne or the Tramp a mix of green chartreuse, lime, grenadine, and angels’ bitters.
Once you figure out what the ingredients are, drinks are served with quite the presentation. Cocktail waitresses adorn glasses with lit lemons and fancy extras. If looking for a different, quite date night the Gibson offers just that, if you can find it.

Missing in Action (not ‘Miami’) opened its glossy, girly, glittery, hot pink doors in November.
Some may know the Dupont haunt as the former Andalu, or more recently, Lupe Mexican Cantina. Neighbors with Public Bar, M.I.A. brings a fresh concept to the District.
At first glance, M.I.A. Lounge DC resembles Beauty Bar, the hipster chain with spots in New York, San Francisco, Hollywood, Vegas, and more with it’s mannequins and pink, shiny décor.
It definitely stepped it up in Midtown by adding some serious out-of-the-box entertainment like the 6-foot, fully-costumed bunny rabbit running wild and getting more photo time than a Playmate.
M.I.A. also adds a saxophone player, fire breathers, stilt walkers, and pole dancers!
A little too out there? It’s cool. Bar and bottle service options take guests back to the D.C. comfort zone with solid prices.

On 11.11.11 dance music icon ATB made a special appearance at Glow Washington DC’s Friday night event at Josephine. It made for an intimate evening for the DC bottle service crowd with one of the world’s DJ elite!

The anticipation was overwhelming.
The hype, overflowing.
The energy, overloaded.
Club Glow’s first ever ‘Super Glow’ weekend at DC Armory featured two of dance music’s biggest stars at the home of the US National Guard.
Day 1: Avicii, Cazzette, Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, Matt Goldman
A neon spectrum of college students poured out of school buses and through the front doors. Clad in headbands, sunglasses and glowing necklaces; a new generation of club kids were arm-in-arm, pumping their fists and stomping their feet.
Fans of house music came from as far as Los Angeles (and probably beyond) to experience Avicii’s biggest US concert to date. His 6th performance at Glow in 16 months, the bond between the 22 year-old and DC nightlife grows stronger with every show.
Taking the stage after sets by resident Matt Goldman, Dutch duo Sunnery James & Ryan Marciano, and fellow At Night artist Cazzette; Avicii furthered bridged the gap between house music and ‘pop.’
The Swede wove an impressive mix spanning all genres of house, allowing just enough room between anthems like Fade into Darkness, Levels and My Feelings for You. Obviously the crowd went buck –>
Avicii brought the epic night to a close with the eternally classic Kernraft 400 – Zombie Nation. In the words of one awe-struck fan, the event was “f***ing life changing!”
Day 2: Armin van Buuren, Pleasurekraft, Roberto Gonzalez
Opening sets by resident Roberto Gonzalez and tech-house superstar Pleasurekraft provided the perfect calm before the storm.
It’s been a while since the 4-time #1 DJ in the world did an extended set in the US. Back in the day it wasn’t uncommon for Armin to be spinning after the lights were on and the cleaning crew had started sweeping the club (Crobar anyone?). For a DC concert to get him for 6 hours at a venue like the DC Armory before a crowd of 10,000… was beyond special.
Fans from San Fran, Cleveland and a very strong contingent of NY club kids descended upon Washington DC for this epic event. We even met some people from Argentina! College students brave enough to go outside their comfort zone were blown away. The power of trance is all encompassing.
• Andain – Promises vs. Starkillers, Kenji & Nadia Ali – Pressure, fused different worlds of dance music.
• Kyau vs. Albert – Kiksu, brought nostalgia to a climax for the #trancefamily.
• John O’Callagan – Raw Deal vs. Armin van Buuren feat. Sharen Adel – In & Out of Love, was effing nuts!

More popularly known along industry insider’s as the “Bartenders Ball”, the annual Zinzi Christmas Ball will be held at the Grand Hyatt on December 4.
The ball raises thousands of dollars every year for local and national charities. Last years event raised $50,000. Basically, it’s a great way to have a great night and create some good karma, or butter-up Santa Claus before the presents roll around.

In 1987 Frank Zinzi, with sons Frank Jr. and Chris, held the first Zinzi Christmas Party in their suburban Washington home as means for friends and family to get together. Each year the party grew and grew and grew, and after a while the ol’ backyard could no longer sustain the large volume of guests.
Over the next decade the Zinzi ball switched locations several times as the attendance exceeded each locations capacity. In 1999, the ball landed at home court which is stills calls home at Grand Hyatt Washington hotel.
