DC Alcohol Sales Extended on Holidays

While Mayor Vincent Gray’s attempt to raise an estimated $5M in tax revenue by extending bar hours may have failed, at least 1 small victory was won by the nightlife community of Washington, DC.

DC nightlife’s consolation prize: A new city policy that allows for extended alcohol sales on holidays.

The District of Columbia’s 2013 fiscal budget (effective 10/01/12) allows venues to apply for extended liquor permits on the evening before holidays such as Columbus Day, Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s, Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day and even Inauguration Day.

What does this mean for you?

It means you can party harder, better, faster, stronger when you have work off for a holiday! Work has been cancelled, everyone’s in from out of town and you definitely want to be out partying later than 2AM. Well… now you can!

REMEMBER: Extended bar hours do not mean you can drive drunk through the streets of DC blasting your horn and screaming out the window. Be smart and be safe.

Washington DC’s ABC affiliate recently reported live from Ultrabar, profiling the venue as a prime destination for DC parties:

57 bars applied for permits and 42 received them, thus earning extended hours for Columbus and Veterans Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas and more next year.

Included in that list are Ultrabar, Barcode, Josephine and Echostage.

GG from “Shahs of Sunset” – Official Teaser Video

“I think people who bark the loudest
in the end have the biggest hearts.
I just want everyone to know I’m really nice…
Just don’t fuck with me!”

Co-star of hit Bravo TV series “Shahs of Sunset,” GG came out for an evening of clubbing in Washington DC at Barcode Restaurant, Bar and Lounge.

The controversial “Persian princess” lived up to all sides of her reputation, extremely nice and definitely feisty.

Shahs of Sunset come to Washington DC

Golnesa “GG” Gharachedaghi
hosting International Thursdays at
Barcode Restaurant, Bar, Lounge
Thursday May 24

wealthy persians washington dc

After an incredibly popular first season of the Ryan Seacrest-produced “Shahs of Sunset” on Bravo; America wants to know…

Will GG ever chill out? Get married? Support herself? For some members, the show was a gross misrepresentation of the Persian-American community. Others identified 100% and then some.

GG is an exotic beauty with a fiery temper and very little filter. Fully supported by her father, this classic “Persian Princess,” goes out to lunch with her friends during the day and shops for Mr. Persian Right at night. More than ready to start a family, GG is definitely looking to settle down, but the 29 year old is having a hard time finding a man that can support the lavish lifestyle and handle her unapologetic personality.

Best thing about being a DJ is… being able to share my love for music, deliver new tracks and old, seamlessly blend music live, and deliver an experience that cannot be replicated by anyone else. Building the energy of the crowd to the climax of the night when you drop a massive track on the crowd and everyone screams or puts their hands in the air. Knowing at the end of the night when you finish, everyone leaving had a great night and they come up to the booth to thank you, it humbles me every single time. Constantly learning, improving, and interacting with the audience inside and outside of the club.

Venue Overview

Grand Central features a relatively simple layout. Walking in passed a patio that’s great in the warmer months, guests find an old-time photo booth should they want before, during and after shots of the evening. To the left is a sunken dance floor ‘room’ with entrances on each side. DJs spin the typical pop you hear on the radio.
Grand Central Washington DC Adams Morgan
Straight ahead is the main bar and standing room. Looking up, patrons suddenly realize why Grand Central is named after the famous Manhattan train station. The rounded, patterned ceiling is modeled after the storied hub of NY travel. A massive portrait of ‘The Most Interesting Man in the World’ adds the perfect touch.

Between the dance floor and main bar is a staircase leading to an upstairs bar and tables.
