5 Things You Need To Remember Before You Go Clubbing In DC
The weather is breaking! Therefore, we know that you’re going to want to head out to the club! Here at DCClubbing.com, we may or may not know a few things about having a good time on the town, so we decided to leave a few helpful hints to take your nightlife activities to the next level. Looking to ensure that you and all of your friends have a fantastic night on the town? Follow these guidelines!
1. If you’re traveling in a crew of 8 or more, get a table.

Pure mathematics state that going out and having a “good time” will ideally cost you around $50-$100. As well, we know that most people headed out for a night on the town don’t travel alone. If you and your crew of friends are particularly fond of a particular alcohol and mixer combination or two, that’s when the idea of a table makes sense. In the case of an ounce of prevention equals a pound of cure, two bottles of your favorite liquor, with orange juice and cranberry juice, PLUS SEATING adds to the comfort and convenience of what can tend to be something often a lot more difficult.
2. Follow dress code guidelines

Dress codes exist for a reason. A venue’s management wanting to add a touch of class to “just” a night on the town to make it a premium event will often add a dress code for atmospheric purposes. Also, if you’re in the market for a potential mate, look at a dress code as not a negative, but rather a positive addition to your attempt at making the ideal connection.
3. Ride-sharing…use it.

We’ve all been there. In either the preparation for a night on the town or at the party itself, we maybe take things a step too far or a drink past our limits. There’s something about ridesharing, and the ease and comfort of direct and customized door-to-door service, that’s ideal for a night where things can get somewhat crazy pretty quickly. Both Uber and Lyft offer first-use rider discounts, and many late-night drivers will often have water, aspirin, or whatever is necessary for solving potential post party headaches.
4. Observe the buddy system

When possible, always head out with a group of friends. Whether at a massive club or an intimate venue, being out with friends you trust makes sticking together and enjoying the atmosphere that much more entertaining. Want a surefire way for your Snapchat stories to be super lit and for your Instagram pics to get hundreds of likes? There’s real worth in being in the most fantastic place with the most amazing people. Hot spots like Ultrabar, Decades, Soundcheck, Barcode, and Echostage are that much more epic when you’re with your friends. A pro tip? Make sure you’ve got everyone’s number and opened up a group chat to make it easy to get in touch if you can’t find each other in the midst of having all of the fun.
5. No two clubs or parties are the same. Homework is essential.

Every venue comes equipped with its own particular set of charms. From Facebook to magazines like DJ Mag and Mixmag, and others in the business of offering helpful reviews and more, there’s always someone in the industry of being in the know willing to give you that extra 10% of knowledge that takes an evening to a whole other level of fun. Is there a unique beverage that is unique to the venue? A special selfie opportunity? Rules regarding dress code, free early entry, and if there’s say, a celebrity in the building? These are all things that are worth learning from a simple background check.
Top 10 Kaskade Singles Of All Time
As the most recent generational worldwide explosion of electronic music gives way to a surge of new underground names ready to make a splash, it’s intriguing to think about the names that have risen to acclaim that are certain to have a legacy. Among those names is Kaskade, the American electro house and trance legend who visits Echostage on May 12 as part of his Spring Fling tour. In the 2010s, Kaskade’s name became synonymous with progressive, yet pop-aimed sounds with house to the point that in 2011 and 2013, he was named America’s Best DJ by DJ Times. The producer born Ryan Raddon has been busy at work since 1995, and in the time since his career’s genesis, he’s undoubtedly had more than ten star-making production moments. In highlighting just these ten, it will ideally either make you want to buy a ticket to the event on May 12 (while they still last), OR, you’ll dig in and search deeper through his voluminous collection of hit electronic anthems.
10. Angel On My Shoulder (2008) (check it out)
Irish vocalist Tamra Keenan’s worked alongside numerous dance icons including Paul Oakenfold, Davis Morales, BT, and more. However, she may be at her absolute best when she’s singing feverishly over a melodious electro production about how she has “an angel on [her] shoulder, “but a devil in [her] head.” A pop moment supreme that worms deep in your head, it always wows the crowd.
9. Everything (2005) (check it out)
“Everything” is the final single released from Kaskade’s second studio album In The Moment and given its 2005 release, unquestionably a sign of greater things to come from the icon-to-be. Electro-meets-disco in a most thumping and crowd-pleasing manner.
8. Never Sleep Alone (2015) (check it out)
Tess Comirie’s ethereal vocal combines with a breezy melody and undulating bassline on this 2015 Kaskade hit. Eventually unfolding into a zippy and funk-filled heater, this one feels like the soundtrack to quite the massive party.
7. Lessons In Love (2014) (check it out)
Spacey synths dot the aural atmosphere of this production that is significantly aided by a rave-ready top-line. A thunder boomer of an anthem, it packs a stomping energy that feels more than in line with any amount of shuffling or leaping the production incites.
6. Atmosphere (2013) (check it out)
Maybe one of the best examples of progressive house at its feel good best, this one glides along light as a feather but hits your body with the energy of something as stiff as a board, immediately getting your feet and entire body in general moving with the melody. A true champion of a floor filling track, it’s forever an absolute joy.
5. Disarm You (2015) (check it out)
Warner Brothers describes the single as being “a sincere plea for uninhibited or honest love with the beautiful vocal stylings of Ilsey set to a bed of music that is intense and powerful.” Big room horsepower is aided by Kaskade’s deft touch on how to mix a majestic top line vocal, and it’s a winner that is likely to have legs as a Kaskade favorite for years to come.
4. Stars Align (2006) (check it out)
Stomping old school UK house vibes combine with OG American disco feels on this immense vocal banger. This is much heavier than what many associate with Kaskade’s sound, but as the lead single from his fourth artist album Love Mysterious, it was certainly a table setter for his eventual mega-massive stardom.
3. Be Still (2006) (check it out)
Gargantuan extended builds and a lilting vocal highlight an intentionally disjointed sound that Kaskade has used to great success. The amount of liveliness apparent in this production is in so many ways due to the ability of Kaskade as a producer to pay equal attention to the subtleties of creating engaging top lines and bottom ends.
2. Steppin Out (2014) (check it out)
There’s an argument that says that pianos are the most powerful organic instrument oftentimes used by house music producers. “Steppin’ Out’s” voluptuous and warped guitar line over a strong bassline would beg to differ. Attempting to not dance to this is a recipe for immediate failure. This one is an overall heater.
1. I Remember (feat. Deadmau5) (2008) (check it out)
The thumping power of club-aimed house combines with trance and top-40 aimed pop vocals for Kaskade’s largest ever career single. There’s something for every stripe of Kaskade fan from his near two decades on top of the electro house game. A deep as it is mainstream, it best highlights the aspects of style and appeal that makes Kaskade seemingly iconic and relevant at all times in any electronic music conversation.
DCClubbing’s Guide To Halloween Weekend 2016
Halloween falls on a Monday in 2016. However, if you’re thinking that the weekend prior to the big day, or the day itself isn’t going to be a SERIOUS party weekend in the Nation’s Capital, that’s where you’re wrong. From bars, to clubs to haunted houses and more, this year’s Halloween won’t just be scary, it’ll absolutely be lit! Here’s DCClubbing’s suggestions for making this coming Halloween weekend one to remember.
Saturday, October 29
There’s two state-of-the-art, award-winning, and completely indoor haunted houses in the parking lot of RFK Stadium. “Exorcism Estate” is said to have been “owned by the parents of the spawn of Satan himself,” while the “Slaughter Factory” is owned by a cruel man who “slaughtered his staff like livestock one fateful night and displayed them like sides of beef hanging on rusty meat hooks stabbed through wrists and ankles.” Intense, right? Scared yet? Check it out!

Saturday night is Ladies Night at Ultrabar, which, on Halloween Fright Fest Weekend means that one can only expect nothing short of the wildest of times with the most amazing of costumes. The party is 18+, and features four floors of music from dance and hip-hop, to Latin, International, Top 40 and mashups. Definitely expect that, given it being Halloween weekend, that there will be epic events planned to match the theme.

DC’s only retro-themed nightclub truly gets into the swing of things on Halloween weekend with a fright-filled fun-overload of a double feature of party action. “Halloween Unrated” takes place on both Friday and Saturday night, and it being “unrated” is meant as a“take it to mean what you will” welcoming with open arms. From slush machines and video games to retro hits from the ‘80s-’10s, there’s always something for everyone at Decades and in adding costumes to the mix, this should be nothing short of an absolutely wild night.
Sunday, October 30
If looking for another area staple haunted house, Laurel’s House of Horror is built inside of an abandoned movie theater, and has been visited in the past by the likes of Texas Chainsaw Massacre series actor “Leatherface” R.A. Mihailoff. The space has had it’s own paranormal experiences as determined by Chesapeake Ghost Hunters. If horror movie superstars in *actual* haunted houses aren’t enough to get you excited, then the 2016’s “Zombie Apocalypse” house theme should do the trick (or treat).
Rising house music superstar Oliver Heldens pushes throwback and club-ready vibes via his Hi-Lo side project. If looking to hear very familiar dance sounds updated with kicking basslines and techno-style grooves, look no further. If a true dance fanatic, seeing a top performer like Heldens in such an intimate space is an opportunity not-to-be missed. Add in the promise of what Soundcheck is calling “Hi-Lo-Ween” has in store, and it’s a surefire recipe for a great night on the town.
Rocky Horror Picture Show At E Street Cinema
Being in your seats by 11:59 PM on Sunday, October 30 makes this annual showing of 1975’s most wild film and one of the most uniquely entertaining movie-viewing experiences ever. From getting dressed in costumes to literally throwing bread slices at the movie screen, it’s an amazing time. If you’ve never seen the on-screen antics of Brad, Janet, Dr. Frank-N-Furter and crew, this film is playing from the 15-31 at E Street, and is well worth taking the time to check out, maybe even twice.
Monday, October 31
Aside from being likely scared beyond belief by it’s four haunted attractions, Olney’s “Field of Screams” has 15 bonfires, smores, funnel cakes, fried Twinkies, and Oreos. The nighlight of making the trek could be the “Trail of Terror,” which for 2016 is themed as a “Camp Fear” where “a group of 20 year old campers once laughed, played and brutally died.” It’s recommended that nobody over the age of 13 head out to the Field of Screams, so definitely expect something that’s a bit more over-the-top and adult-aimed in presentation.
Funky vibe-man Griz brings his unique brand of festive celebration to DC on Halloween. The soul-stirring bass lover oftentimes plays a like saxophone during his set, which puts the whole presentation over-the-top. The Detroit-based DJ/producer’s latest album is entitled Good Will Prevail, and with tracks featuring the likes of future-forward hip-hop adoring producers like Louis Futon and Cory Enemy, it’s possibly his most mainstream-ready release-to-date.
Monday Night Football at Barcode

If fright and fear aren’t exactly your cup of tea, the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears will be playing each other in a game with huge implications if the Vikings remain undefeated and/or one of the most surprising stories in the NFL in 2016. As well, the matchup is one of the NFL’s oldest, and the teams have played each other 12 other times on Monday night. Checking it out at Barcode’s long-standing Monday night event is definitely one of the premier spots in town for checking it out.

Miley Cyrus

When: Friday, November 27
Where: Echostage
Tickets: Ticketmaster – 80 bucks a pop
Yup, you read that correctly: the glittery, always-half-naked-for-no-reason tongue twister is coming to DC’s Echostage – an intimate venue considering her nationwide fame and recent stint on the 2015 VMAs. Tickets obviously already sold out for this one (in less than 30 seconds), but if you have a friend or some kind of connection with an extra stub or two, it’s time to make nice: this show will be historic.

80s vs 90s Flashback ft Biz Markie

When: Friday, December 4
Where: Baltimore Sound Stage
Tickets: Ticketfy – just $15!
YOUUUUUU, YOU GOT WHAT I NEE-EEEED. I’ll stop. But not before I see the man in person for an epic 80s vs 90s dance party.

HOT 99.5’s Jingle Ball

When: Monday, December 14
Where: Verizon Center
Tickets: Ticketmaster – $45-200 depending on where you sit, but most attendees attest to the closer more expensive seats being totally worth the extra dinero.
As of right now, the roster for the 2015 Jingle Ball includes 5 Seconds of Summer, Demi Lovato, Zedd, Tove Lo, and more. But that’s not it – they announce new acts weekly leading up to the big event, so the lineup is only going to get bigger. Keep an eye on it on the HOT 99.5 website.

The DC natives (Yes! Founding members Rob Garza and Eric Hilton created the group at the 18th Street Lounge!) are bringing their groovy bossa nova, dub, and jazz vibes to 9:30 club mid December. If you haven’t heard of them before, you are missing out. Check out the Garden State soundtrack they made it on that launched them into stardom.

The Roots

When: Tuesday, December 29
Where: The Fillmore Silver Spring
Tickets: LiveNation – $65
Most recently notorious for being Jimmy Fallon’s band, the Roots are playing an intimate show at the Fillmore for one night only. Come see the hip-hop/neo soul group play their Philadelphia-born hearts out on the small stage in downtown Silver Spring. Photo courtesy of mtv.com, credit: Ben Watts

We’ve put on over 70 shows this year, 20 of those shows including artists that we’ve brought to DC for the first time. We even managed to get ranked once again as the #1 best place to dance at on the East Coast by DJ Mag. To celebrate all this and more, we’ve enlisted the talents of one of the biggest names in dance music: Krewella!”

Muse is one of the all-time greatest stage performing bands out there.

Wilco

When: Sunday, February 7
Where: DAR Constitution Hall
Tickets: Ticketmaster – $53
Generally categorized as alternative rock and alternative country, Wilco’s name has been steadily rising for a number of years. Rolling Stone has consistently named them as “one of America’s most interesting bands” and they’ve also been regarded as “America’s Radiohead” due to their music’s wide range of stylistic variations. In fact, they have so much to offer that suggesting a single song to listen to would almost be pointless. The best thing to do? Go to this show and experience their talent and range for yourself. _________________________
Bryan Adams

When: Wednesday, February 17
Where: DAR Constitution Hall
Tickets: Ticketmaster – $43-90
It may be far from the Summer of 69, but Bryan Adams will make you forget about that. One of the OG rock/pop artists, Adams has performed with everyone from The Who to Nelly Furtado – his range in his genre is amazing, and definitely worth checking out.
_________________________
Janet Jackson

When: Monday, February 29 – Tuesday, March 1
Where: Monday in Baltimore at the Royal Farms Arena, Tuesday at the Verizon Center
Tickets: Ticketmaster for either, about $40 for the Bmore show, $50-100 for the DC one
If you don’t know, you don’t know. See the boss lady herself in either Baltimore or DC (or both!) for her 2015 Unbreakable World Tour.

Not sure about you, but Winter doesn’t seem so bad to us anymore.
Fall Concerts in DC
End-of-Summer blues? We all have it, but the Fall music lineup is definitely going to cheer you up. Don’t get us wrong – Summer concerts are awesome, but the Fall ones are taking the music scene to a new level. Don’t believe us? Pshh…
Blues Traveler

When: Friday, September 11
Where: Fillmore Silver Spring
Tickets: $38 through Ticketmaster
Blues Traveler may be physically smaller than when he first started out, but his vocal reach and harmonica talent is not. And the Fillmore in Silver Spring is a great place to get the run around up close and personal.

Life in Color

When: Saturday, September 12
Where: RFK Stadium
Tickets:$65 through Ticketmaster
Man, where do we start with this one. We could begin with the lineup, which includes bass favorites Adventure Club and Seven Lions as headliners. Or we could talk about the fact that it’s the East Coast’s largest paint party. But honestly? You should just trust us when we say buy a ticket and get ready to have an insane time. We suggest wearing an all-white ensemble that’ll get dyed while dancing so you can show it off at future shows.
____________________
Madonna

When: Saturday, September 12
Where: Verizon Center
Tickets: $55-$200 depending on where you choose to sit, tickets are still available through Ticketmaster
This woman REFUSES TO QUIT. And that is not meant to be a slight at her because the more she does, the more she amazes. It’s your chance to see the queen of pop and reinvention at the Verizon Center for what’s sure to be an incredible show. Yeah, we said it. Don’t be a hater. We dare you to rock tights and a leotard on an arena stage when you’re pushing 60.
____________________
Echoversary

When: Friday, September 18 – Saturday, September 19
Where: Really?
Tickets: $30 per show, but if you want to go to both it’s only $50 for a joint ticket (via Wantickets).
For three years this place has been on the forefront of bringing EDM to the nation’s capital, and for three years it has succeeded in doing that and then some. Named the #2 club in the country and #18 in the WORLD, Echostage continues to bring epic acts and amazing shows of all kinds to the DMV. Two nights worth of celebrating isn’t enough, in our opinion.
____________________
Ed Sheeran

When:Tuesday, September 22 – Wednesday, September 23
Where:Verizon Center
Tickets: $90 via Ticketmaster (if they haven’t sold out already)
The soft spoken, sweet talking Irishman himself is going to be in DC for 2 days! Just thinking out loud here, but you should go.
GET IT? But seriously. Go.
___________________
J Balvin
with special guest Becky G
When: Saturday, October 3
Where: Echostage
Tickets:Ticketmaster has a few left for $42 and change
Put some latin flavor in your Fall music journey with J Balvin and Becky G. As we said before, “J Balvin is known for beat-heavy performances that feature a troupe of talented female backup dancers, and his high-energy renditions of fan favorites like ‘Tranquila’ and ‘Yo Te Lo Dije’ always get fans moving!” Get ready to get down, mi amigos.

Weekend in the Country

When: Saturday, October 3 – Sunday, October 4
Where: Merriweather Post Pavilion
Tickets: $55-$75 but apparently sold out
For you country lovers out there, this is your mecca. It’s also probably the best way to send-off the Summer as Merriweather is the epitome of Summer music celebrations and this marks the end of their 2015 season. If you were lucky enough to grab a ticket before they sold out, it’s time break out the cornhole, pack your your travel grill, and put all your favorite tailgate drinks on ice, because this weekend will be one for the books.
____________________
Ricky Martin

When: Friday, October 9
Where: EagleBank Arena (formerly Patriot Center)
Tickets: $66 via Ticketmaster, but prices appear to be going up.
It’s been a long time since she banged, but the songs are still pulling crowds! Gotta give credit to the guy who knows what made him famous and is still willing to capitalize on it (and poke a little fun at himself in the process). For instance: The “Livin La Vida Loca Meet and Greet Package” is in existence along side the “Shake Your Bon-Bon Party Package”. Well done, Ricky.
____________________
Marc Anthony & Carlos Vives

When: Sunday, October 11
Where: EagleBank Arena
Tickets: $78 via Ticketmaster
YEAH. This guy. He’s still kicking. And not just kicking – the actor, dancer, and [obviously] singer still proves he can put on a great show. This time, he’s performing alongside Carlos Vives – a long time friend and fellow performer who’s vocal stylings will get you up and at ’em.
____________________
Disclosure

When: Wednesday, October 21 – Thursday, October 22
Where: Echostage
Tickets: The second night’s show is $45 via Ticketmaster but they’re SUPER close to selling out
In case you hadn’t heard: Disclosure is great. So great, in fact, that a second show had to be added to accommodate for the demand. They initially gained mainstream popularity thanks to a collaboration with Sam Smith on “Latch” and did it once again with the recent “Omen”. Their cool, soulful electronic vibes are everything right now. Odds are both shows will sell out before you finish reading this post, so get on it.
____________________
Chainsmokers

When: Halloween!
Where: Echostage
Tickets: Just $25 through Wantickets
Honestly – and we aren’t just saying this because it’s Echostage and we love it – Halloween + Echostage = Spectacular. Take a venue where some of the greatest shows have come to life and combine it with one of the most colorful and crazy holidays of the year? Have mercy. AND Chainsmokers are there with a crazy tour lineup? I need to sit down. At a computer. To buy tickets.
____________________
Cedric Gervais

When: Thursday, November 5
Where: Soundcheck
Tickets: $20-25 via Wantickets
Can you think of a better cure for your Summertime sadness than an Echo-favorite playing the intimate, new, high-tech studio sound club on K street? We can’t either. If you haven’t found time to check out the new spot, Soundcheck, this night is definitely the time to do so.
____________________
The Weeknd

When: Sunday, November 15
Where: Verizon Center
Tickets: Start at $50 on Ticketmaster
If you haven’t heard of the Weeknd, it’s time to crawl out from the rock you’ve been living under and pay attention: this Canadian born artist began his career at the peak of the YouTube generation after dropping his mixtapes online back in 2011. Obviously, said mixtapes were FIRE because he’s now selling out the Verizon Center this November. His Beauty Behind the Madness tour will more than likely feature the recent radio-favorite hits “The Hills” and “Can’t Feel My Face”, take a listen if you’ve managed not to yet.
____________________
Andrew McMahon in the Wilderness
with New Politics, the Griswolds, and LoLo

When: Tuesday, November 17
Where: Echostage
Tickets:$38 and change through Ticketmaster
Andrew McMahon is an inspiration. You’ve probably heard some of his musical influence courtesy of Jack’s Mannequin back in the day, but he has made a name for himself all on his own thanks to a few Emmy nods and a heartfelt song written for his new baby girl Cecilia about the impermanence of life (did we mention he beat cancer?) and his vow to protect her. We’ll give you a minute to gather yourself –sniff-theyrejustallergies-sniff– before you buy a ticket.

Summer Concerts in DC
Summer has finally arrived and DC! The best time of year for outdoor concerts, stadium-packed shows, and serious summer lineups. This summer is on pace to be one of the most epic so far: Foo Fighters, Nicki Minaj, the Moonrise Festival, and so much more. Better start budgeting your Summer cash now, because you are probably going to want to see all of these. And by probably, I mean definitely.
Third Eye Blind and Dashboard Confessional

When: June 17, 2015
Where: Peir 6 Pavilion
Tickets: Ticketfly
Tell the angst-ridden teen in you that is freaking out over this to take a couple of deep breaths and then reassure them that yes: this is indeed real. The emo royals who once ruled your AIM profile (don’t lie) and sang about “screaming infidelities” is reuniting for the first time in 5 years with none other than Third Eye Blind. Need I say more?
Panda Funk
ft. Dirty Audio, Deorro, Zoo Funktion, and Iez
When: June 26, 2015
Where: Echostage
Tickets: Wantickets
“What good is art if no one gets to enjoy it?” Excellent question, Deorro. Panda Funk, lead by Deorro himself, is a west coast record label that prides itself on discovering new artists and letting them explore their capabilities. They aim to keep music as authentic and real as possible, and their show this summer at Echostage should prove to any skeptics just what they’re about.
Foo Fighters 20th Anniversary Blowout

When: July 7, 2015
Where: RFK Stadium
Tickets: Ticketmaster
Saying that this is a concert of colossal proportions would still be putting it mildly. To celebrate their 20th anniversary as one of the greatest, most influential rock bands alive (not to mention the coolest – have you ever read an interview with Dave Grohl? What a guy), the band is bringing together many of the groundbreaking American acts featured in their HBO docuseries, Sonic Highways: Buddy Guy, Gary Clark Jr., Heart, Joan Jett and the Blackhearts, LL Cool J feat. DJ Z-Trip – the list just goes on.
In the words of Wayne and Garth: We’re not worthy!
Taylor Swift

When: July 13-14, 2015
Where: Nationals Park
Tickets: Tickets.com
Leave a blank space in your calendar open! It’s time to party like it’s 1989! If you can’t make it one day, shake it off because there’s a second show!
I’ll stop.
But in all seriousness, my girl T-Swift deserves some credit: Her last album shattered the sales of whatever it was Justin Beiber put out and that is something everyone can get on board with. She’s also broken a few Guinness records that haven’t been touched (or realized) since the pre-Napster and mp3 days when TRL was the deciding factor of who achieved platinum status (#throwback #missyouCarson #rememberwhenDiddyranonthattreadmill?). And she’s coming to DC’s beloved Nationals Park.
Adventure Club

When: July 17, 2015
Where: Echostage
Tickets: Wantickets
The Montreal duo started out as a pop-punk band, but after getting bored they switched to the high energy dubstep genre of EDM, generating their initial fan base with a remix of Brand New’s “Daisy”. Taking influence from Echostage veterans such as Tiesto, Skrillex, and Flux Pavillion, Adventure Club’s high energy Christian Srigley and Leighton James are no strangers to the festival circuit: appearing at both EDC Vegas and Ultra Miami in the past few years – their DC show will most definitely be worth checking out.
Nicki Minaj

When: July 22, 2015
Where: Jiffy Lube Live
Tickets: Live Nation
Nicki Minaj’s The Pinkprint Tour hits Jiffy Lube Live this July, bringing special guests Meek Mill, Rae Sremmurd, Tenashe, and Dej Loaf with her. If the trap/rap/pop mix on her December ’14 album is any indication of this tour’s direction, it’ll definitely be a rager on pace with the over-the-top style and attitude we’ve all come to know and love.
Flo Rida
When: July 24, 2015
Where: Echostage
Tickets: Ticketmaster
Southern rapper Flo Rida makes his Echostage debut this July following his October 2014 EP release My House. Having performed and worked with artists such as DJ Khaled, Rick Ross, Trick Daddy, and, of course, T-Pain (a collab which resulted in a Grammy win for “Low”), this show is sure to be a blowout. Tables and tickets are still available for now, but will more than likely sell out soon. If you want to be a part of this party, I’d get on it quick.
Milky Chance

When: July 27, 2015
Where: Echostage
Tickets: Ticketmaster
The German duo Milky Chance are quickly rising to fame with their laid-back blend of slinky dance beats, acoustic details, and soulful vocals. Their hit single “Stolen Dance” came out in 2013, but didn’t catch on stateside until late 2014. When it did, though, the song shot to #39 on the Billboard Top 100 in just a few short weeks. Still not sold? Give “Down by the River” and “Flashed Junk Mind” a listen, I dare you to not immediately purchase tickets.
Moonrise Festival
When: August 8-9, 2015
Where: Pimlico Race Course
Tickets: Ticketmaster
Oh. Shit.
It’s back: two days of the best music Glow DC has to offer – which, coming from the people who put the #2 club in the country on the map, is a whole lot. Think Coachella just for EDM, but Coachella in it’s pre-commercialized golden days when it was more about the music and less about who was in attendance wearing godknowswhat (although, to be honest, the fashion will probably still be pretty awesome). Not as awesome as the acts themselves, though: check ClubGlow.com for lineup announcements leading up to the big day.
J. Cole
with special guests Big Sean, Jeremih, and YG

When: August 9, 2015
Where: Jiffy Lube Live
Tickets: Ticketmonster
J. Cole brings his Forest Hills Drive tour to VA this Summer, accompanied by hiphop artist Big Sean, contemporary R&B singer Jeremih, and Compton rapper YG (you may recognize those last two from the radio-regular earworm “Don’t Tell ‘Em”). Approved and promoted by Jay-Z, J. Cole has been known to put on a energetic, diverse show: blending rap with jazz, R&B, funk, and neo soul with a love of storytelling. If anything, you should go to this purely for the “I heard it first” bragging rights – Billboard is predicting big things for guy’s future.
Twenty One Pilots
with special guest Echosmith

When: September 8-9, 2015
Where: Echostage
Tickets: Ticketmaster
Anyone who has lived in the DMV area knows that September still counts as Summer, so finish yours off with a show that has been selling so well and so fast they added a second night. Animated indie-rockers Twenty-One Pilots mix elements of hip hop, hard rock, and pop into performances that have consistently left fans wanting more. Bonus: Echosmith is their special guest. Be there and be like the cool kids (zing!).
